Chapter 19: Nothing's More Frightening

I take a deep breath and walk towards my three ex-upperclassmen.

I smile widely, "hey guys!" Hajime, Matsukawa, and Hanamaki turn to me with equally wide grins. We all exchange hugs before Matsukawa ruffles my hair and speaks up, "hey kid, long time no see." Hajime smirks, "nuh-uh. She's not a kid anymore, she's a, and I quote, 'mature teenager' now." I blush in embarrassment as Hajime refers to our last encounter.

I shake it off before asking, "where's Oikawa-senpai?" Hanamaki snorts, "well first off, drop the honorifics, we're not your senpais anymore." I look shyly at the ground, "sorry, force of habit I guess." He chuckles, "secondly, I'm pretty sure he's at a doctor's appointment." I nod and look back up towards the group, "I get to call Hajime by his first name now, so does this mean I can call you guys Mattsun and Makki?" The iconic pair smirks and Mattsun puts me in a headlock and nudges my head with his elbow, "aw~ shortie wants to call us by our nicknames!" I blush and try to yank him off of me, "h-hey! Stop that!"

Hajime chuckles, "oi, leave Y/N alone you two." Makki pouts, "you're no fun Iwaizumi, always gotta act like an older brother of hers. She's already got one, doesn't need another." Mattsun lets me go and I cross my arms and pout, "hey! Tobio is my twin!" They all roll their eyes.

"HEY GUYS, LINE UP!" We all turn to the source of the loud shout and look back at each other, "well.. I guess this is goodbye?" The three taller boys look at each other before turning to me, all softly smiling. Hajime speaks up, "we'll talk later kid." I smile back and shyly wave goodbye to them before heading back to Karasuno's side of the court. I take a spot next to their very gorgeous manager.

She glances at me and then looks straight ahead, "had a nice reunion?" I look at her in a little bit of shock. She turns to me and smiles. I didn't expect to converse with her today. I nod, "yeah. I didn't get to talk to three of them though. One's not here yet while another one was busy warming up and the remaining one was probably using the bathroom."

She nods, "my name is Kiyoko Shimizu by the way." She puts out her hand. I take it and smile, "Kageyama Y/N." We shake hands and then face back towards the court. Can't wait to see how Karasuno does.

Time Skip

BAM

Everyone stares at Hinata with wide eyes, in shock. No. Way. The ball patters on the ground, filling up the heavy silence. Tobio slowly turns his head and glares at Hinata. The room is completely silent until Tanaka, Tsukishima, and I burst out into a laughing fit. Tanaka is the first to speak, "HEY.. IS THE BACK OF YOUR HEAD OK?" Tsukishima follows, "NICE HEAD SHOT- HAHAHAHAA!" I furiously wipe the tears out of my eyes, "NE NE TOBIO, YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BLOCK THE BALL FROM THE OPPOSING TEAM!"

Sugawara pops up from behind the boys, "don't make it worse!" Daichi speaks up too, "stop it you guys!" Hinata stares into the abyss. Tobio fully turns around and faces Hinata. He walks towards him and Hinata frantically backs up, "w-w-wait! We can talk this over! Kageyama, listen! Wait!"

Tobio stands dangerously close to Hinata, "look." Hinata flinches, "yes?" "What's making you so nervous and freaked out? Is it the tall opponents? Is it because it's your first practice game?" Tobio slowly raises his hand, "what's more frightening than nailing me on the back of the head with a serve?"

SLAP

Tobio slams the back of his own head, "tell me." Hinata stares back up at him with a blank look in his eyes, "nothing is more frightening." Tobio repeatedly hits the back of his head, "then you have no reason to be nervous anymore, right? You've already gone and done the most frightening thing." Tobio points his finger in between Hinata's eyes, "now get back on the court you moron!"

Hinata looks at him in surprise while Tobio walks away, "w-wait.. do you mean I got away with that?" Tobio continues to look annoyed, "huh? What the heck are you talking about?" The two boys line up with their team and bows as the whistle blows, ending the first set. I start to tune them out as I begin to read a text I had just received from Satori until a motivational speech catches my ears. "The thing about volleyball is each and every guy on this side of the net is your ally!" I smile at Tanaka's words then frown, being the enemy of such a kind team is hard to believe. I tune out the rest and turn back to my phone.

Hey N/N-chan~ hope you're having fun~ the team and I miss you but I miss you the most! Can't wait to cuddle you soon~

I softly chuckle and blush towards my phone. He's too cute.
