Chapter 23: Math is Stupid!

TWO MONTHS LATER

It was Sunday night and I was sitting at the desk in my room, hitting my pencil against my forehead repeatedly. Although I was considered to be book smart, school was still able to leave me extremely confused. Math is my worst subject. Just because I'm a year ahead in it, doesn't mean I'm that good at it. I sighed and put my pencil down. I pouted until an idea popped up in my head. I quickly grab my phone and facetime Satori.

Much to my liking, he picked up immediately, "yo N/N-chan~ did you miss me?" I gave him a fake smile but he saw through my facade, "what's wrong~?" I sighed again, "math is giving me trouble.. I was wondering if you could help me..?" Satori bursts out into laughter, "Y-YOU'RE ASKING ME OF ALL PEOPLE TO HELP YOU?! HAHA! MAN.. YOU DO KNOW I'M BARELY PASSING MATH RIGHT NOW, RIGHT?"

I groan in frustration and massage my temples, "do you know of anyone that could potentially help me? I've got an exam in a few days.." I hear Satori hum, "how about Wakatoshi~!" I look back at the camera, "would he be willing to help?" Satori shrugs, "I don't see why not~." I nod and smile, "alright, I'll ask him! Thanks Satori~!" Satori smirks, "of course! Anything for my damsel in distress!" I chuckle, "I'm gonna hang up now~." Satori whines, "but you just called!" I roll my eyes playfully, "bye bye~." Satori waves sadly as I hang up.

I take a deep breath and call Ushijima. He picks up after two rings, "hello?" I stutter, "h-hey Ushijima-senpai! I'm currently having trouble with math and I was wondering if you could help me?" He hums, "hmm. I'll see what I can do. Is tomorrow an ok day to study?" I nod even though he can't see me, "yeah! I actually have an exam at the end of the week so the earlier the better!" "Got it. After practice, we will go to the library," he says plainly. I smile, "alright, thank you!" "Goodnight Y/N." I chuckle, "goodnight senpai!"

I hang up and smile, relieved. Ushijima should definitely be able to teach me.

THE NEXT DAY

"I don't understand," he states nonchalantly. I stare at him blankly. Here we were, sitting in the library after a very tiring practice, and he just now tells me he doesn't understand? I groan and put my face in my hands, "well what am I supposed to do now? My exam is in four days.." Ushijima ponders, "how about Goshiki? He's in the same year as you." I quickly lift myself up, "of course! Thank you!" He nods while I quickly tap away at my phone.

THE FOLLOWING DAY

It was now lunch time and I was shyly standing outside Goshiki's classroom. We had discussed the day prior that we would eat lunch in the library instead of the cafeteria so that we could study in quiet. However, he had to clean the chalkboard before leaving. I told him that I would wait for him so.. here I am. I knock on the door and an unfamiliar boy opens it, "may I help you?" I stutter, "u-um.. I'm here to see Goshiki-kun.." The boy smirks, "oi Goshiki! A cute girl is here for you~." I blush as Goshiki frantically shoves the boy away, "i-ignore him! You can wait by my desk." I nod and sit on his desk, texting Satori while I wait for him.

AT THE LIBRARY

Goshiki was silently mumbling random nonsense to himself while I just stared at him blankly, eating my turkey sandwich.

BAM

I flinch at the sound of Goshiki loudly face palming himself, "I DON'T GET IT!" "SHHHHH!" The librarian harshly shushed us, leaving Goshiki to apologize profusely.

I sigh and massage my temples before whispering, "we're literally in the same grade and are both a year ahead in math, how do we not get it?!" Goshiki turns to me quickly and whispers back, "h-hey! Why don't we ask Semi-senpai!" I turn to Goshiki and smile brightly, "of course! Why didn't I think of that!"

THE SUCCEEDING DAY

Goshiki and I were standing eagerly in front of Semi's dorm. We turn to each other and nod before frantically knocking on his door.

Semi opens the door, "OI! Quit it- ah Goshiki, Y/N-chan, how can I help you guys?" Goshiki and I bow before shouting in sync, "PLEASE HELP US WITH MATH!" Semi shushes us, "quiet you two! Ok.. I'll help you guys. I'll meet you at the library in 15 minutes." We nod and head down there immediately.

TIME SKIP

Goshiki and I were sitting at a table in the library, waiting anxiously for Semi. "Yo! I brought a reinforcement." We turn to Semi and see him walking with Shirabu by his side. Of course! Why didn't we think of him? We then spent the entire afternoon studying, as well as the next day.

FRIDAY: EXAM DAY

I look at my exam score, smiling. A 92%! Not the highest score, but still a great one! While looking at my score, I begin to reflect on my past few days. Without even realizing it, I had bonded with my teammates. They're not just teammates anymore.. they're my friends.

"Ne Kageyama-san! A boy is here to see you." I look up and see Goshiki at the door with a wide grin. I smile back at him and grab my test before running to the door, "look look! A 92!" He smirks proudly, "a 92 you say? Well.. feast your eyes on this!" He shoves his exam into my face. I gently push it away, "wow Goshiki! A 94? That's amazing!"

As Goshiki starts to ramble on about who knows what, I smile softly. I look back up at him and interrupt, "ne ne, Goshiki?" He stops talking and looks down at me curiously. I smile at him, "want to hangout later?" Goshiki blushes but returns the smile, "y-yeah. Sounds like a plan."

hey guys! it's been awhile. honestly, ever since the last chapter was published, i've been scared to post again.. there were many positive comments but there were few that left me worried. i want this to be a story for everyone to enjoy, so i'm sorry if the last chapter was too much. i thought that it would be comedic as well as progress you and satori's relationship. i guess i should ask this now even though it's a little bit of a spoiler but.. is smut ok with you guys? should i leave a warning in the beginning? let me know! also, peep the new cover! i made it myself on picsart haha. thank you guys so much for the many lovely comments. i see that you guys have bonded in chapters 10 & 21's comment section! i'm glad that my story is bringing people together (: well that's all for now, see you guys in the next chapter! mo-chan out!
