٭ No Lies ٭

DINNER WAS A BIT TENSE AFTER ME BEING A BIT BLUNT ABOUT all of it. Maybe I should have said dating instead of fucking. Aedan didn't seem too pleased, maybe I offended him with it? I didn't really care though. I didn't really like him either.

But I had learned to let my mom be happy.

If I valued my happiness over hers, I'd of made her stay with dad.

But I wanted my mom to be happy so if pretending to be civil with Aedan made her happy, I'd make her happy that way. Aedan decided to stay a bit longer after dinner as I retreated to my room still happy about the upcoming picnic with Lex.

That was exactly what I needed, a beautiful date with Lex which would involve food, cuddling, and no doubt some more making out.

I settled into my room removing my clothes before settling into a loose nightgown and getting into bed for an early start to the morning. I was so happy about it. Nothing could ruin it, not even the eerie conversation my mother and Aedan were having as I slept.

"You avoided the topic tonight."

Tanya shifted looking back up at Aedan who stood in the kitchen tall. He looked much different when in a suit. Tanya thought it suited him. But she knew better than to flirt with a knight. They were all business and it'd get her nowhere.

"I want to find a good way to tell Ambrosia. She doesn't know about this world; I don't want to break her by telling her. I want to do it on my terms Aedan." Tanya remained firm. Ambrosia is her only daughter and even if she was a bastard and a reminder of why she was here Tanya loved her daughter fiercely. It'd take a long to make Tanya leave her behind.

"We don't have forever Tanya. I had a hard-enough time getting here, we must leave soon with or without the girl. With the way you act its as if you don't want to come home." Aedan watched her his amber eyes burning into hers.

"Aedan I've always wanted to go home." Tanya's voice was tense as her eyes began to glow and Aedan watched her. It took a lot of will not bow before the royalty before him. Even if she was female, she was still above him. But he was here breaking oath already being here.

Their kind didn't take well to them being out since Tanya. His luck he'd get some female painter obsessed with him. He hated the interest that peaked him around creative people.

Especially seeing all the painting in Tanya's house hung by her daughter. She'd be a steak tossed in with a bunch of wolves if she came with.

"She just needs a bit more time, I ripped her entire life out from under her. She needs to recover before I do it again." Tanya refused to let up with Aedan.

He could push her around anywhere except her daughter. Tanya wouldn't relent when it came to her daughter. She was very protective of her and nothing could stop that.

"I'll tell her when the time is right Aedan, and only then, you'd be advised to stay out of it." Tanya stared Aedan down who straightened up.

"You have a limited time Tanya, being here is dangerous." Aedan straightened up as Tanya watched him.

"You seem to forget I was once at the brunt end of the danger and obsession humans can form with us." Tanya bitterly reminded him of Maverick.

A foolish mistake. She should have just left him in the park where he was painting instead of giving into the curious nature of one of her kind. It'd of saved her a bunch of trouble. But then she wouldn't have Ambrosia.

Tanya took a deep breath in.

"We'll be in touch Tanya, get things ready for when we need to leave, cause' we need to go soon before the king notices I've been gone." Aedan spoke.
