The familiar lush green trees greeted Camille as the crickets chirped in unison. There was no one in sight, just the way Camille liked it. As her school bag bounced slightly with every step she took, Camille took in the usual sight of dark green leaves shadowing the even narrow path, overgrowing grass poking in through the tiny cracks on the pavement and the feeling of being alone and safe from the reality of the world, even if the feeling was only ever so tiny. With a sigh, Camille replayed the whole day through her head. Eating peanut butter bread for breakfast, missing the usual bus, reaching school just as the first period bell rang, having the same boring lessons again and now, walking the usual route back home from school. Camille instinctively blew back a wavy brown strand of hair that had fallen over her face as she inwardly groaned at the thought of having the whole day repeat itself again tomorrow. Ever since Camille's mother had died, she had been sent to an orphanage where the only comforting thought about it was the idea of being able to leave once you were 21. Camille thought of her father and how he was doing his time in jail.

''I wonder if he knows mum had died,'' Ever since Mr Trent had been discovered being involved in a murder. he was tried and thrown into jail. Not wanting to delve deeper into those thoughts, Camille wondered what the orphanage was serving for dinner.

''We had porridge yesterday so I think today will be potato soup. But this week the 12 year olds have gotten back their exam results so we might have minestrone soup.'' However, with two years of experience, the 14 year old girl was pretty certain that Madam Stobblen would not be as generous as to go the extra mile and prepare so much as a different bread. Heck, not even go an extra centimetre.

If Camille had not been so deep in her thoughts, she might have heard a slight rustle behind her and realised that someone was following her, However, it was only when a nearby branch snapped that Camille realised something was amiss and whirled around, but it was too late, The last thing she saw was a mop of messy black hair and a massive body charging towards her before she screamed.
