Darren placed the radio on the coffee table. Him and I kneeled down, anxious to turn it on. I couldn't keep the smile from my face. It was a new kind of excitement that I hadn't experienced before. Of course, I had been happy in my life, but not like this. I couldn't explain it. Just being around Darren made everything seem alright. I wasn't sure how or why, but everything felt right.

The dials on the radio turned rather easily, music ringing in and out through the haze. Dare went through the channels, until finally he landed on what that he liked. A soft melody rang out, a smooth voice singing along to the smooth tune. He sighed, content. "Now that's more like it."

I looked at him, feeling my eyes light up as his did as he stared at the radio. He seemed so much in his element that I couldn't help but smile even wider. "I prefer you singing."

His eyes secured onto mine, searching. "Do you?"

My face became warm. "Well," I cleared my throat, "I've never heard you actually sing in person, but I am a fan of Glee and of your music. You have a gift."

White teeth gleamed back at me as his smile grew. "Maybe I'll sing for you one of these days."

My heart fluttered. "I'd really like that, Darren."

He raised his eyebrows, glancing over at the radio and back at me, pressing his lips together. "But until then..." Darren held his hand out for me to take. I placed my hand in his, my stomach doing little flips. He lifted me up to my feet, swiftly grabbing my waist and pulling me closer. My hand automatically rested between his chest and the top of his shoulder. Darren began to lead me in a rocking motion to the music, holding me against him gently.

This setting was perfect. The soft melody resonating off the bare walls, candles flickering in the darkness, lighting the room in a soft glow. Darren held me so close that I could feel my heartbeat begin to beat in unison with his. This was it. It was perfection.

As we danced, Darren began to sing along with the gentle melody, keeping his voice low. I could feel the vibrations rising in his chest, giving me more butterflies. His voice was so flawless and it consumed me completely. Never in my life had a sound ever effected me so entirely, swallowing me whole. It was the best feeling in the world.

I snuggled my face into his shoulder, allowing the moment to devour me. In the blink of an eye, Darren's smell took me over. He had an almost earthy scent to him. But he also smelled like fire and rain and sweetness all at the same time. The scent was so distinctly him that it almost knocked me over. I'd never actually realized before this moment how much I'd been missing out on by keeping as far away from him as I could. Of course, it also wasn't until this moment that I realized what a physical connection I had to him. It was as if there was a force holding me to him. I inhaled softly again, letting my mind wander. Then it came to me. That was it. Pheromones.
