"You are the heart, that beats inside of me. When you give up tonight, you give up on me."

"Lakota." Jax stated, as Tara rolled her eyes.

"Does she even know the first thing about babies? She doesn't look much older than a child herself, Jax." Tara commented, this time pissing me off.

"I've taken care of kids before, plenty of times. I'm more than capable of caring for Abel. You don't know shit about me, so don't go assuming anything." I spat, before smirking at her,"And for your information, I'm twenty three. I'm not a child." I added, causing a small blush of embarrassment to erupt on her cheeks.

"Look, Tara, we only came here to check on the kid. We didn't come in here for a lecture or an argument." Jax said, as Tara frowned.

"I'm Abel's doctor, and I'm supposed to make sure the parents are suitable to care for him. If they're not, then he can't go home with them." Tara stated, seeming to try and scare Jax, but all she did was piss us off.

"Look, I know how this whole doctor thing works and you don't have a case that can keep Abel from coming home. If you did say anything, we could tell everyone about your involvement with Jax and your undying jealousy that he's finally happy without you." I spat, before walking closer towards her.

I could see Jax blocking the window, keeping people from seeing anything going on inside of the room. Once I was nose to nose with Tara, I allowed my glare to harden threateningly.

"If there's even a chance Abel isn't allowed to come home because of you, I will personally hunt you down and make you wish you were never born." I stated, as she backed away.

"Are you threatening me?" She asked, causing me to shake my head.

"No, it's a promise. I know what happens when you threaten a doctor, but the thing is, I'm not threatening a doctor, I'm threatening you. So, for your own safety, don't get in our way. Got it?" I sneered, causing her to nod quickly.

"Good. We'll be heading back now. Keep us updated on Abel. Oh, and Tara? Don't try and keep Lakota from coming back into this room or there'll be issues. A mom should be allowed in to see her son." Jax stated, before grabbing my hand, sending Tara a smirk and walking out of the room.

I couldn't believe I had gotten so brave. I mean, I had gotten in the faces of fugitives before and yelled at them, but never once had I gotten into the face of a doctor. I never would've threatened someone, who wasn't a fugitive, like that if I was still with my family. I was changing into the person I was supposed to be, but it saddened me. The more I changed, the more I knew my father wouldn't approve of me. My whole family wasn't going to approve of me, not for long anyway. They most definitely wouldn't approve of Jax, not in the slightest bit. A girl could only dream for that to happen.

"Ya know, you were pretty hot back there." Jax commented, once we were alone on an elevator.

"What do you mean?" I asked, unsure of what his statement had meant.

"When you were being all protective and threatening. I have to say, you definitely turned me on right then." He said, causing me to laugh.

"You're so weird." I retorted, as we walked off of the elevator.

"What? I'm only telling the truth. You were on fire, and so was my-" Jax began, before I cut him off.

"We've got to get back to work, horndog." I said, making him laugh.

"As you wish, darlin'." He replied, before we both climbed on to the bike and rode of to TM.

I was honestly excited and nervous to tell Gemma about what had happened at the hospital. There was no doubt Jax would tell her. Hell, he'd probably tell everyone. I wouldn't be surprised if he did, since he seemed so happy that the scene had happened. Honestly, it was as if he seemed almost proud of me at that moment. I wondered if that was how Gemma would've reacted if she was in my place. She probably would've reacted way worse though. She didn't seem to be the rationally thinking type when it came to situations with her family. Which, I mean, I completely understood, since her family was really all she had and all she cared about.

As we pulled into TM, Tig and Gemma were walking our way. I could tell their faces didn't hold a lick of happiness, so I knew something had happened while we were gone. I was almost glad our story of the incident in the hospital was going to have to wait to be told.

"Something wrong?" Jax asked, causing them to nod.

"Yes, we've been trying to call you guys for the last twenty minutes." Gemma sneered, as I bit my lip.

"Sorry, we were on the bike and didn't hear our phones." Jax replied, saving both og our asses.

"Whatever. We need Lakota in the clubhouse. Some shit went down when we were with the Irish." Tig said, causing Jax to sigh.

"Who was hurt?" Jax asked, as we made our way towards the clubhouse.

"Cameron was shot twice, once in the leg and once in the ass." Tig answered, causing me to inwardly groan.

I did not want to have to fix bullet wounds in another man's ass, especially when the man wasn't Jax. Except, I wouldn't want Jax to be shot, so I guess I'd have to deal with this job instead. As we walked into the clubhouse, Chibs directed us towards a pair of doors, before he opened them and I seen Juice standing by the table with an unconscious man and his finger jammed in the man's ass. It was going to be a long day...
