Chapter Twenty Seven *3rd POV*

      Jax laid on his bed, contemplating what he was going to tell Lakota's brother or father when he told them she needed to be brought home. All he did was send Dakota a message saying he and his parents need to come to Charming for urgent matters related to Lakota. He knew the message would scare them, which was his biggest hope and biggest fear.

      He had visited Lakota everyday, which had only been two days so far, but he was going to see her today. He didn't know if he wanted to see her before or after he had talked to Dakota and her father. Leland and Jax hated each other, but there was one thing they both loved, Lakota.

      As he laid on the bed smoking, he heard a knock on the front door. Sighing audibly, he stood from the bed and made his way to the door. As soon as the door was open, he seen Dakota, Leland, and a woman whom he believed was Leland's wife, Jamie. He motioned for them to come inside, before shutting the door behind them.

"Where's Lakota?" Leland asked, a frown etched on his face.

"In the hospital." Jax stated, causing Leland, Jamie, and Dakota to gasp.

"What happened?" Jamie asked, causing Jax to look away for a moment.

      Jax didn't know what to say, since he was sure the family would be pissed at him no matter what. He didn't want to end up being arrested or something because Lakota's family was a bunch of officers, or officer related workers. He just couldn't chance going to jail before he found his son, or before he even knew his old lady was going to live or not. Hell, he was sending her away, but he still loved her nonetheless. She was the best thing that ever happened to him, other than Abel of course.

"Two days ago, while I was at work, a man showed up threatening Lakota and Abel. His son had been killed and he blamed my family. So, in retaliation, he came after my family. A friend of ours was killed trying to protect them. The guy stabbed him and killed him instantly. The guy tried to take Abel, but Lakota fought back. He hurt her, bad. When I found her, Abel was gone and she was tied to a chair in his nursery, unconscious, a knife sticking out, and blood everywhere. Opie and I got her untied, and Opie rode with her to the hospital. As of right now, we don't know much, but doc is saying she's most likely going to make it." Jax stated, watching the family as they listened to every word that came out of his mouth.

      As soon as Leland had heard the story, he was absolutely pissed. His daughter was almost killed because of this blonde asshole. He knew Jax had promised to protect her, but evidently he didn't protect her very well. He did a terrible job at protecting his own family. Hell, Leland felt bad for both his daughter and Abel. Abel didn't deserve a life where his father was a well-known criminal.

"Are you shitting me?" Leland commented, causing Jax to sigh.

"I'm sorry, and I know you're all probably pissed. I didn't call you guys out here to be pissed at me. Well, I did, but I wanted you guys here to take her back with you. I can't chance her getting hurt again. She's not cut out for this life. I know she loves Abel, but what happened to her shouldn't have happened." Jax said, causing the family to frown.

"Are we allowed to see her?" Dakota asked, causing Jax to nod.

     Dakota wanted to see his sister. Rather she was in a coma or just fine, he wanted to be able to see her himself. He wanted to speak to her about what had been going on, but he knew he couldn't talk to her if she still hadn't woken up. He hoped that he could change Jax's mind though, even if that meant he angered his father. Dakota seen how much the two loved each other, so he didn't want this to cause them to breakup. They were the family they needed, but it was being broken up too early by some psycho that wanted to hurt Jax.

"Yeah, follow me." Jax replied, leading the family out of the door.

      Jamie was surprised to see that Lakota had ended up with this man. He sure was handsome, but she didn't expect her step-daughter to end up with an outlaw, especially coming from her line of work and her family. Jamie knew Lakota had fallen for Jax's charm almost instantly, which made Jamie feel a bit disappointed. She had thought Lakota knew better than that, but at the same time, Jamie knew it wasn't always the person's choice on who they fell in love with.

         As soon as they arrived at St. Thomas, Jax lead the family to Lakota's hospital room. When they walked in, their hearts filled with dread. Lakota was still unconscious in the bed, but luckily she was no longer on the ventilator. Almost as soon as they entered the room, a doctor came in afterward.

"She's breathing on her own now, so it shouldn't be much longer before she wakes up." The doctor said, causing everyone to nod.

"Can we have a minute?" Leland asked, causing Jax to nod.

     Jax left the room, sitting down in the waiting room with his head in his hands and a rather large sigh.

"How is she?" Leland asked the doctor.

"Well, besides being stitched up and pretty bruised, a couple broken bones, she's fine. Actually, I haven't told Mr. Teller yet, but she's pregnant. Six weeks to be exact, but the baby doesn't seem to be in any danger or distress. It seems she and the baby will make a complete recovery." The doctor said, causing Leland's heart to sink.

"Don't tell Jax, not yet. I'll tell him myself." Leland stated, and the doctor nodded, leaving quickly after that.

     None of them could believe it. Lakota was pregnant, something they never thought would happen. Would taking her from Jax really be good for her, the baby, and Abel? Leland wondered, but he didn't know what to do. He was torn, but he only wanted what was best for his daughter...
