Two weeks later..
"Oh look, it's the nursery school brigade!" Oboro exclaimed with a grin. He was walking with Shota and Yuki. Yuki was sitting on a cloud that Oboro made with his quirk.
"It's Loud Cloud!" "I wanna ride!" The nursery children chorused.
"Ok, ok," laughed Oboro. "Just a moment. Shota, can you hold Yuki's hand when I put her on the ground, so she doesn't get away?"
Shota nodded. Oboro put Yuki on the ground. Yuki immediately took Shota's hand and hid behind the teenage boy, shy of the nursery school kids.
One of the nursery school kids, a 5 year old boy named Haru, asked, "Who's she?"
"She's my two year old sister Yuki. She's a bit shy, so you can just say hi from there," said Oboro. "Yuki-chan, don't be scared of this bunch. They're really nice."
Yuki peeked out from behind Shota. "Hi," she said softly.
The nursery school kids waved at her. Then they all clambered onto the cloud with Oboro and their teacher's help. One of the kids almost fell off, but Shota caught them, and placed them back on safely.
"Don't fall now," he said. When they were about to cross the road, he stuck an arm out and said, "Look both ways first."
When the group of kids walked further up ahead, the kids called, "Bye Loud Cloud!" Another kid said, "Bye Eraser!"
Shota smiled, and waved back.
Oboro placed Yuki on the cloud again, and said to Shota, "You're a natural with kids. Maybe you should become a schoolteacher."
"You're just careless," Shota retorted. "And besides, me a schoolteacher? That's the epitome of irrationality."
"Nah," Oboro said with a smile. "You're the kind of guy, who, once he finds his courage, can do anything."
"You can do it, Sho-kun!" Yuki exclaimed, grinning.
Shota looked at Yuki, startled, but then smiled and patted her head.
"Thanks Yuki-chan," he said with a smile.
Suddenly, Shota's phone rang. He checked it.
"Oh," Shota said. "It's Kayama." Nemuri Kayama was a third year student that Oboro, Hizashi, and Shota were friends with.
He answered the call. Kayama's panicked voice came through the speaker.
"Aizawa, start evacuating everyone! A villain is rampaging through the neighborhood you're in!"
Shota turned to see a huge villain lumbering towards them, destroying everything in its path. Boulders started falling everywhere. Shota grabbed Yuki. Everyone stared up in shock at the behemoth.
Shota and Oboro saw the hero they were doing their work studies under, His Purple Highness, come in front of them.
To them, he said, "You two! Get the young ones to safety!" Then he launched into action, with a flying kick at the giant, which the giant responded by letting Hizashi's Voice quirk loose, which knocked His Purple Highness into a building.
The villain's quirk was Stock, which allowed the user to absorb attacks and store them, and then able to release them at will.
Boulders were falling all around the group. One was about to hit the nursery school kids and their teacher. Shota and Yuki watched in horror.
"Cloud!" Oboro directed his cloud over the group. Just then, a boulder fell on top of Oboro's head, knocking him over.
"OBORO!!!" Yuki screamed, and tried to lunge out of Shota's arms toward the fallen rubble. Shota held her back.
Kicking and screaming, Yuki was handed over to the nursery school teacher, who agreed to take care of her until the incident was over.
Yuki watched Shota, eyes shining, as he fought the villains.
Then Shota seemed to be at a loss. Yuki stared at Shota, worried.
"SHO-KUN!" Yuki screamed. "YOU CAN DO IT!"
With a renewed vigor, Shota managed to get the villain to release his quirk inside the villain himself, defeating him.
He collapsed onto the ground, and stared up at the sky.
"I DID IT!" Shota yelled with a laugh. "DID YOU SEE, SHIRAKUMO?! I BEAT HIM!"
Yuki stared in disbelief. Then she gave a huge smile, and wriggled out of the nursery schoolteacher's arms and ran towards Shota.
Yuki jumped on top of Shota's stomach and gave him a hug.
"Yay! You did it!" she exclaimed, squeezing him.
Shota put a hand on Yuki's back and sat up.
"Yup, I did it," Shota said with a smile. "Now let's go find your brother, Hizashi, and Kayama."
Yuki held Shota's hand and walked with him to find the other teenagers.
"How's Oboro's wounds, Kayama?" Shota asked.
Kayama didn't answer, her back towards him.
"That bad? We need to take him to the hospital," Shota said.
Kayama took off her glasses and wiped at her face.
"Muri nee-chan, are you okay?" Yuki asked, letting go of Shota's hand and ran toward Kayama. She looked up at Kayama.
"I'm fine, Yuki-chan," Kayama said, smiling at the nickname through her tears.
Yuki ran back to Shota and Hizashi.
"Where's Nee-san, Zashi-kun, Sho-kun?" she asked.
Hizashi had a stricken look on his face, but Shota said, "I don't know, Yuki-chan, we have to-" His eyes widened in horror when he turned around and froze.
Behind him was a body covered in a cloth, blood covering one end. When Yuki saw, she ran towards the body. Many people tried to stop her, but she ducked under them.
Once she got to the body, she uncovered it. The face of her big brother, covered in blood, eyes closed, was revealed. She cried out and crumpled over her brother, sobbing.
Hizashi gently picked her up, and took her to where Shota and Kayama were standing.
Kayama turned to leave. "We need to go inside, you three are going to catch a cold."
"Nah," Hizashi said. "The rain is suitable for the mood we're in."
"Then I need to get Yuki inside," Kayama said. She took Yuki from Hizashi's arms and started to walk away.
Hizashi and Shota felt a tug on their clothes. They turned around to see Kayama, stopped. Yuki was holding on to their clothes.
"I wanna stay," Yuki said, tears at the corner of her eyes. Kayama looked at her and sighed.
"Fine, but make sure she doesn't get too wet."
The boys nodded. Kayama handed Yuki over to Hizashi, and walked away.
Once Kayama left, the threesome just stood, getting drenched by the rain, in silence. Then Yuki started crying.
"I want Oboro," she said, sniffling. "But he's gone, just like Mommy!" She cried even harder.
Hizashi and Shota's faces grew anguished, and they stood together, hugging Yuki, and cried themselves.
Hizashi and Shota took Yuki home. They explained the situation to Oboro's father. The man did not blame the two, and told them to stay for dinner. Once dinner was over, they tried to leave, but Yuki wanted them to stay. So that night, they stayed in Yuki's room, together.
After this day, they didn't see each other again for another 4 years.
