*Beep* *Beep* *Beep* I groan reaching under my pillow clicking snooze I roll out of bed. Lazily going through my morning routine. I run my brush through my damp hair. Throwing the brush back onto the counter walking out into my room grabbing my phone before jogging down the stairs walking into the empty kitchen grabbing a cup poring myself a cup of coffee I lean against the counter dialing Bonnie's number I haven't spoken to her since the funeral. It rings a few times before going to voice mail

"Hey...I just wanted to check in on you, I know it's hard but I'm here to listen, to talk, to be a shoulder to cry on. No matter what I'm here... I love you."

I sigh leaving the message walking out onto the front porch Elena looks up from her journal she gives me a small smile patting the empty space next to her I sit down

"How are you doing?" I shrug weekly

"I miss grams..." She frowns nodding

"I miss her too." I put in my earbuds leaning my head back listening to the music in thought
~~~
"What are you two doing out here? It's cold." Jenna's voice brings me back to reality
"Thinking, writing. The, uh, funeral for bonnie's grandmother, it brought back a lot about mom and dad." She answers looking down at her diary before looking back up "I was wondering. You said that you would do some digging about them, The adoption." I frown
"Right," Jenna says
"So did you? Dig?" Jenna smiles
"Come on inside." I sigh standing up following them in. Jenna sits down at the table opening her computer "Your dad kept everything from his medical practice- Record, logs, old appointment books." she says grabbing a notebook out of a box next to her "I found an entry from the night you two were born." we stand on each side of her looking over her shoulder "Patient and birth date. Isobel Peterson." I look at the name
"Do you think that's her real name?" Elena asks looking between us I shake my head
"Pregnant teenager runaway? Probably not." I say Jenna nods
"First name, maybe. But where'd she get Peterson? Classmate? Best friend?" she turns to her computer "So I binged it." she starts typing away "I searched for all the Petersons in this area born the same year as Isobel, found three. Two men and a woman, Trudie, who lived in grove hill, Virginia." she says looking up between us
"That's not far from here," I say looking at Elena Jenna nods going back to typing
"Well, watch this." she brings up photos of the class of 1993 one of which is of Trudie and Isobel standing next to each other in their cheer outfits
"Isobel. She was a cheerleader." Elena says with a wide happy smile Jenna smiles
"Trudie still lives there." she grabs a sticky note from her bag "This is her address." I swallow looking down at the paper she holds it up to Elena who grabs it
"What about Isobel?" she asks standing up straight looking down at Jenna
"I couldn't find anything about her," Jenna says I look at her she's not saying everything she knows. Elena sits down Jenna takes in a deep breath
"Listen." she looks between us I walk around standing next to Elena "There's something else. Mr. Saltzman, Rick, his wife was from around here, and her name was also Isobel." I look down
"Wait. "Was", as in..." Elena asks
"She died." I bite my lip .great so if she's our birth mother she's not around just like mom... I sigh
