In the grass, a bike lay flipped upside down. The chain dangled loosely, the tip threatening to hit the ground.

A teenager with a black smudge over his forehead wrapped the chain around his fingers, clutching it in his palm before he ripped it off of the bicycle.

His eyes met Richie's, who was standing on the other side of the bike, dragging his slender finger along the rubber wheel, watching it spin in the air.

"You just need a different chain, " he concluded.

Curly hair bounced over shoulders when the boy pulled his attention away from the spinning tire. "Alright, do you have a spare?"

Dark skin gleamed in the light of golden hour when the sitting teenager nodded. "My grandpa has a few in the barn. I'll go grab one,"

The sun reflected off of shiny teeth when Richie smiled, "thanks, Mike,"

Mike was already wandering away with the dirty hand towel slung over his left shoulder. "No problem!" he called back.

Richie scanned the ground until he caught sight of a grassy area that wasn't mucky. His back hunched when he reclined on it, his long legs folding crisscrossed.

Bike tires against a dusty gravel road had Richie's ears intrigued, and he looked up to see a small boy pedaling his way, physically straining not to breathe in any of the dust flying around his head.

The gasp he took when he stopped in front of Richie was so ungodly that Richie had to cross his legs even tighter.

"Eds, " he smiled.

Eddie was nearly out of breath from riding his bike from town all the way to Mike's farm. "Bev said you'd be here. Thought I'd hang around if that's okay with you and Mike, " offered the brunette.

He could have laughed at his boyfriend's vigorous nod. Long legs stretched out into a standing position, and they sauntered to the shorter figure.

"You know it's fine with me, Eddie-baby, " murmured the taller teenager, taking Eddie's small waist into one hand, and his sleek brown hair into his other.

They were moments away from kissing, so for Richie's safety- since the curly-haired boy is so worried about getting caught with Eddie- Eddie looked over his shoulder to make sure Mike wasn't anywhere in sight.

Richie noticed, and while his lips were only centimeters away from Eddie's, he asked, "are we good?"

Eddie nodded, and since Richie can't ever hold back, he snatched Eddie's top lip between his and snagged his bottom lip under his teeth, nibbling on the softness.

The smaller yanked back, hovering his hand over his mouth as his face screwed up disapprovingly. "Ow, " he complained.

Richie apologized and gawked as Eddie's eyes could have rolled to the back of his head. "Whatever, you shit."

Breathy air caught itself in Richie's throat as a laugh at the nickname. He gazed at Eddie with question. "That's new, "

"Here's your chain, Rich. Hey, Eddie, " Mike smiled kindly at the new visitor and then dropped the silver bike chain into Richie's outstretched palm. "I polished it a little, so it shouldn't give you any more problems, "

Mike was the dear of their group. He gave in to their every need, and was there for them whenever it was necessary- and even when it wasn't necessary, like the time Bill thought there was a snake in his bathroom, so he called Mike over to take it out. It ended up just being one of Georgie's toy reptiles.

Mike's farm had everything, and so the group often used the items from the property to create new things. Mike's farm was the place to go if any of them were lacking something. Because if they didn't have something, then he did. He is the one who lent Ben the supplies for the clubhouse because Ben didn't have money to construct it himself. Without Mike, they wouldn't have a place to hang out.

Richie moved in to hug his generous friend, and when they pulled back, he said, "thanks, homeschool. I owe you one,"

Mike's warm grin never left his face, "you owe me nothing, Rich,"

Eddie watched, the stand on his bike faltering behind him, causing it to fall over with a crash of all sorts. His shoulders leaped off of his body, and his tendency was to sprint to his boyfriend and bury himself in his side.

Richie grew nervous, but coddled Eddie anyway. "It's okay, dude, " he cooed, rubbing up and down Eddie's arm. The boy should have been happy, but 'dude' was only a name Richie dubbed him around his friends. Something in him yearns for Richie to just comprehend that the others won't judge him for who he is.

"You can leave your bike here, and I'll work on it before the sun goes down, " said Mike. "Need to ride double on my bike, or can Eddie take you home?"

Eddie was freed from the comforting warmth of Richie's Led Zeppelin t-shirt. Richie patted his shoulder and grinned, "Eddie can take me home,"

"Alright, " Mike nodded and reclaimed his seat next to the bicycle. "See ya later, guys, "
