Heeyy guys :) now before I go into the story, I need to explain something. This is apart of You Should Open Your Eyes, it is just from the winner of the comp's POV. It won't make sense unless you had read this author's note so I guess this is they way I'll find out if you guys read them. Now I have been asked in messages if this fanfic will be having a sequel. I'm sorry to say that it will not be. I have a way to end the story and I don't want to continue with it on after that. I will however, be writing a sequel for Paul Higgins Is My Adopted Father, so maybe read that one as well?
oh well onto the chapter.

Rachel's POV
I sit nervously in the audition room waiting for my name to be called. I had to get into X Factor, I have already dropped out of school to follow my dreams of singing and I can't back out now. I HAVE to get in.
"Rachel Gonzalez" The man asked. I take a deep breath and stand up. I walk into the room where it had the X Factor sign behind me. There was a man who had a bald crown sitting behind a table with a pen and paper. "Hello Rachel, just to remind you that you must sing the same thing if you get through, further in the auditions" The man says and I nod. "Okay, what will you be singing?" He asks me raising an eyebrow. He was probably judging me. I don't look exactly like a future celebrity. I was 17 years old and had long brown hair that needed a good wash. City hotel shampoo just doesn't cut it.
"Skinny Love" I say trying to calm down the growing nervousness. The smirk on the mans face escalated when he heard the song. Obviously expecting me to sing badly. "Okay then, start when you're ready" I felt like snapping back in my nervousness "How about never?" But I slow my breathing down and sing.
'Come on skinny love just last the year
Pour a little salt, we were never here
My, my, my, my, my, my, my, my
Staring at the sink of blood and crushed veneer
I tell my love to wreck it all
Cut out all the ropes and let me fall
My, my, my, my, my, my, my, my
Right in this moment this order's tall
And I told you to be patient
And I told you to be fine
And I told you to be balanced
And I told you to be kind'
I stop when he raises his hand. I had zoned out and I realise that his jaw was dropped. He composes himself and clears his throat. "Well done, that was very good. Go through to the next stage" I mutter something that I hoped was a thanks and go through the door to my left.
I was now side stage and I heard the crowd cheering from the previous singer. An interviewer walks up to me with eagerness and asks "Hello my dear, Rachel, are you nervous?" Ignoring the fact that he knew my name and I didn't tell him it, I answer "Sorta, I'm riding a lot on this, so I need to be perfect" He nods not asking about what I meant, good. I don't want the world to think that I was a 17 year old useless drop out. A nagging part of my mind said "Well you kinda are" I told that part of my mind to go deep throat a cactus and I took the mic that a techy had handed me.
He nods for me to go onto the stage and as I walk on the crowd gives me and encouraging cheer. I smile and the croud and put a bit of my hair behind my ear. I saw Guy looking at me with interest, like he was trying to find something in me. "Hello, what's your name?" Mel asked me. "Rachel, Gonzalez" I reply my voice sounding stronger than I felt.
