Beatrice's POV
Breeeaath Bea, breath. My heart was slowing down, which was a good thing from how fast it was beating before.
I looked at myself in the mirror. Someone who I've never seen before was staring right at me. This girl was beautiful, confident. This girl never tried to commit suicide. I looked at my palms. Scars were still there from what happened 2 years ago.
Tears were starting to form in my eyes. Don't you dare cry. Don't you dare. I breathed again. I blinked to get the tears to go away. I looked at myself in the mirror again. You're going on a date with Ethan Parker. A smile was playing on my lips.
I opened the bathroom door and put my makeup bag in my room. I walked down the stairs and Ethan was there. His smile widened when he saw me. "Ready?" He asked.
"Totally." I said. He took my hand into his and his fingers intertwined with mine. I looked up at him and smiled.
We headed out the door and got into his car. He started the engine.
"I forgot to mention that you look beautiful." He said sincerely. I blushed.
"Thank you. You don't look bad yourself." I paused. "Where are we going?" I asked, curiosity getting the best of me.
"It's a surprise." He said mischievously.
"Sometimes I love surprises but sometimes I hate them. This is the one that I hate." I crossed my arms over my chest. I noticed some CD's in the car. "Can I look through these?" I asked.
"Go for it." He said.
I looked through them, he had a lot of old school CD's. Then one of the CD's caught my eye. "Oh my god! I love Don McLean!" I entered the CD in the disc drive. And soon it started.
"A long, long time ago... I can still remember how that music made me smile." Ethan sang along.
"And I knew if I had my chance. That I could make those people dance. Maybe they'd be happy for a while." I sang
"February made me shiver, with every paper I'd deliver. Bad news on the doorstep; I couldn't take one more step." Ethan sang.
"I can't remember if I cried when I read about his widowed bride. But something touched me deep inside, the day the music died." I sang. After we sang the whole song together.
"Bye, bye miss American pie. Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry. Them good old boys drinking whiskey and rye. Saying this will be the die that I die...This will be the day that I die.
"Did you write the book of love, and do you have faith in God above? If the bible tells you so. Do you believe in rock 'n roll, can music save your mortal soul, and can you teach me how to dance real slow?"
"Well I know that you're in love with him 'cause I saw you dancin in the gym.' You both kicked off your shoes. Man, I dig those rhythm and blues!"
We sang the whole song until the end. "Dude, we're acting like drunks when we had nothing to drink." I said laughing. "You are a horrible singer by the way."
