Sarra squeezed Steve's hand. He squeezed back. "Who would do such a thing...?" Dennis whispered, more to himself than to his companions. Alan stood still, eyes on the bloody messages. He should have trembled by the gory sight, but wasn't. After all those years of being trapped in the place, almost nothing scared him. Almost.
"W-What do we do now?" Alexa asked, hiding behind Rex, which wasn't helping. The scent of dried blood filled her lungs.
"Isn't that obvious?" Gabriel stepped in with his blue handkerchief covering his nose. "We get out of here."
"Are you cray-cray?!" Damien said. "LOOK AT WHAT'S INSIDE! FOR ALL WE KNOW, WE'LL—"
"If we wanna get out of here," Gabriel shot Damien a split second glare that sent shivers to his spine. "We gotta get past this." Damien wanted to argue, but quickly decided to go against the idea.
"Fine." he said. "But before that, let me try to contact anyone who we can contact form the outside." he fished out for his cellphone and showed it to his friends.
They nodded in agreement. "Go ahead." then Damien dialed a bunch of numbers in rapid speed, possibly desperation fueled him.
"But how do you know we won't die?" Dennis asked Gabriel, completing Damien's discontinued sentence a few minutes ago.
The corpses were enough proof that they'd die, anyway. "I just do, Dennis. You gotta trust me on this..." They exchanged weary glances, until they decided that it was probably for the best. Alexa wasn't willing to do so, but she didn't have any other option. It was either she died alone, or with them.
Gabriel managed a half-smiled. "Good."
To their shock, Damien slammed his phone on the ground and stomped on it once. He grunted. "Stupid thing!" He stomped on it twice more with such force that it smashed to bits.
"W-what'd you do that for?!" Sarra stuttered out.
"My phone died on me," he hissed in distaste. "Pretty bad timing, huh? Now we really don't have any other choice."
Gabriel shifted his attention back to the tunnel of the dead. "Then, let's go."
"Lead the way, Gab." Rex said, following his brother Alan as he was already walking behind Dennis and Gabriel. They were quiet the whole time, except for Alexa's constant complaints about how disgusting it was. The room was rather dimly-lit, but as they got closer, it got brighter.
Damien accidentally stepped on a skull. He shrieked, "YYYYEEEOOOOOWWWW!! GROSS!" He ran past them, but tripped over an arm.
Alan was the only one who found it funny, laughing a childish laugh at how hilarious Damien's actions were. His brother looked at him, a bit surprised. "You actually laughed..."
"Yeah, at a bad time, too." Sarra grumbled.
"Oh zip it, princess. This was all your fault." Rex rolled his eyes behind his thin-framed glasses. "And my brother can laugh whenever he wants."
"I didn't SAY he wasn't allowed to laugh!"
"Then what was that about?!"
"Rex," Alan said, halting them both before they could engage into another heated argument. "That's enough. Your friend's right. I shouldn't be laughing at this time. I'm sorry." He glanced at Sarra, whose name he still didn't know. "Um..."
