I mentioned that I had a little sister, Paige, she's five years old and she's a red demon just like my father. She's 2'10", short blond hair, fair skin, red eyes, lots of freckles, small black wings, very small black horns, and she's very energetic.~~Flashback!~~
I was reading in my class because it was reading time when my fifth grade teacher came over to my desk after hanging up the phone.
Teacher: "Hey Raymond, your father is here to pick you up early! Maybe it's to see the baby that you've been talking about in class!"
Raymond: "I don't know, it could be. Well, thank you for letting me know! I'll get my stuff packed up and head down there!"
Teacher: "Thank you!"
My teacher went and sat down at her desk while I packed up my school papers, my folders, my agenda, and my book. I put my backpack on and grabbed my lunchbox out of my cubby. I went to the door and said bye to everyone. What I got in return was some students not paying attention, some saying "Bye!", some saying "Lucky..", and some sighing a sigh of relief because the demon of the class was leaving. At this point the mean people didn't bother me so I just opened the door and left while waving goodbye. The only person who waved back at me was Darius. He's been my only friend since Pre-K.
I start walking down the hallway and towards the front office and soon I was there.
Raymond's Dad: "Hey little man! There you are! Ready to go see your new baby sister?"
Raymond: "Yup!"
With that, me and my dad left to go to the hospital to see my new born sister and my mom. On the way there my dad looked, almost frustrated, and clueless, like he didn't know what to do and that made him angry. I brushed it off and looked out the window trying to find something to make this drive less boring.
We soon arrived at the hospital and my dad took me inside and we went up to my mom's room.
Carrie: "Hey Raymond! You ready to see your baby sister?"
Raymond: "I sure am!"
I look over at my father to see him very unhappy but he then sees that I'm looking at him and he smiles and suddenly looks okay. I turn around and see my mom holding my baby sister and a nurse next to her making sure she doesn't drop the baby.
Carrie: "This is Paige! Your little sister! Would you like to hold her?"
Raymond: "Sure!"
Carrie: "Alright! Go and sit on that couch over there!"
I do as Mom tells me and sit down on the couch waiting for someone to hand me the baby. The nurse takes the baby from my mom carefully and brings her over and hands her to me. I hold Paige in my arms while the nurse makes sure I hold her correctly. I look down at her and see her tiny little, barely visible, horns and then I look at her face. She's awake. I look into her eyes and see that they're a beautiful crimson red indicating she's a red demon just like my father. The top of her head has some blond hair on it meaning she has the same color hair as my mom. Normally when people would first see their new siblings they would either be disgusted, mad, jealous, or something along those lines; I'm not saying all kids act like that when seeing their new born sibling, but some do. I didn't act like that. I saw her and felt like I had to protect her with my life; and from that point on, I promised her that I would never let anything harmful come her way. And I fully intended on keeping that promise til the day I die.
A few weeks after Paige was born, my father left us. I felt betrayed but I kept thinking about that promise I made to Paige. I would make sure that I would be the big brother figure and a somewhat father figure, that way not having a father wouldn't affect her as much. I was making big promises despite being only 10, but to this day I still intend on keeping them.
~~New flashback!~~
Paige was about 11 months old and I saw that she was crawling in the hallway, so I decided to get her attention.
Raymond: "Paige, what are you doing?"
I say with a silly tone of voice and then I laugh a bit. Paige looks at me as if she's been caught and she smiles, being the little stinker she is. I go towards her and pick her up and hold her with my 'big' 11 year old muscles. She looks up and me and giggles. We've been trying to get her to say her first word and so I start encouraging her to say Raymond.
Raymond: "Can you say 'Raymond'? 'Raaaymond'"
I keep encouraging her and she starts making little sounds here and there. I almost give up.
Paige: "Ra-Raym-"
That gives me a lot of confidence to get her to say her first word so I keep saying 'Raymond' in different ways to maybe help her out; and eventually my efforts pay off.
Paige: "Raymo- Raymond."
She said her first word! I quickly find Mom and tell her about the news!
Raymond: "She said her first word! She said Raymond!"
Carrie: "Oh really? That's great!"
Raymond: "Yeah! Let me try and get her to say it again!"
I try and get her to say it again and it took a while, but she eventually said 'Raymond' again!
Carrie: "Wow! Now we gotta teach her how to say Mama."
Raymond: "Okay! I'll work on that with you!"
Mom smiles and Paige giggles
~~Last flashback!~~
Paige was three and I was thirteen and I had to get going for my first day of eighth grade, but she didn't want me to leave.
Paige: "Raymond!! Don't leabe!! You have to stay hewe!"
Raymond: "Come on, Paige. I have to go to school! I don't wanna be late for my first day.."
Paige: "No!"
Raymond: "I'll be back later today. I promise."
I kneel down in from of her and hug her
Paige: "I don't want you to leabe!.."
Raymond: "I know you don't, but I'll be back later. Promise me that you won't give Mom and hard time while I'm gone and I'll use some of my allowance to buy you ice cream."
I stop hugging Paige and she backs up, she looks a lot happier than before
Paige: "Okay Raymond! I'll be good!"
I stand up
Raymond: "Alright, if Mom says that you've been good then I'll take you down the road to the ice cream shop this weekend."
Paige: "Okay! Bye Raymond!"
Raymond: "Bye Paige!"
And with that, I leave and start heading to the bus stop.
That weekend I kept my promise and I went and got her ice cream because she didn't cause any trouble.
I felt like I was keeping my promise very well; and I planned on keeping my promise forever.
(A.N. Alright! I know this doesn't really answer the cliffhanger, but, the next chapter will! I promise you! I hope you liked this chapter! Bye!)
