Wang Yibo and Xiao Zhan leisurely walked inside the cafe and trudged to the counter to get their orders. Whilst one of them ordered an americano, the other took the flat latte followed by a small slice of cake. Both of them occupied a seat close to a rectangular window, sitting across each other.
Xiao Zhan cleared his throat as his index finger nervously tapped on the tabletop while his gaze targeted a small stain spot on the table, close to Wang Yibo's hand, "Uh... Congratulations, I've heard Bichen became the most influential company in China over the years,"
"Mm."
Xiao Zhan lifted his head watching as Wang Yibo brought the cup closer to his lips, savoring the bitter taste of coffee, the latter's gaze intensely focused on Zhan, "How is your father doing?" Zhan inquired.
Wang Yibo eyebrows tilted, "Why are you interested in my father's health?"
"No reason, haha." Xiao Zhan awkwardly laughed as he was feeling restless from this uncomfortable silence.
Wang Yibo slightly sighed and leaned on the edge of the chair, "He's doing fine,"
"That's good to hear," Xiao Zhan nodded as a faint smile crept in the corner of his lips, "What about Paul Yu and Xiao Xing Chen?"
"What about them?" Wang Yibo inquired.
"What are the other two doing?"
Wang Yibo slightly loosened a suffocating necktie around his neck and spoke, "Paul Yu took over his father's business and Xiao Xing Chen opened a pet shop,"
"I see..." Zhan murmured as he brought his coffee to the mouth and poured the hot liquid inside. When he put the coffee cup back on the table, Zhan inquired again, "Do you still keep in touch?"
Wang Yibo tilted his head to a side, "Zhan, even if I would want to converse on irrelevant topics with you, I am afraid I can't as I am a busy man,"
"Oh...right," Zhan smiled, lowering his gaze down on the same stain spot. The distant atmosphere Wang Yibo gave off made Xiao Zhan fidget even more as he has never seen Wang Yibo look so... intimidating.
