It's been nine years since Melody made that promise to Calum. They grew to be inseparable.

Today was the annual party hosted by Riley Evans, the most popular girl in high school. Everybody who's anyone will be there. I don't even know what I'm going to wear.

I decide to wear my black skinny jeans, since they make my butt look cute. Maybe I'll find someone who's worth my attention. Who knows?

I was going to shower when my phone rang. All Time Low's Backseat Serenade filled my room. I answer already knowing it was Calum. He hand-picked my ringtone for him.

"What's up?" Today was the party and how can I not be excited.

"Hey, what movies should I bring for tonight?" Shit. I totally forgot.

"Umm, Raincheck?" I prepared myself for the worst. You see, Calum has a very short temper, he can be set off by the most minimal thing.

"What?! We have never skipped our movie night. It's tradition!" Calum was getting angry. "I'm coming over. Now!" and the line went dead.

"What am I going to do now?" I threw my phone at the wall in frustration.

I rubbed my face and sighed. Why are boys so complicated? I sat down waiting for him.

Five minutes later, through the window came an irritated Calum. He doesn't like to enter by the front door. He even has a spare key but just doesn't use it.

"Mel, what the hell? You're going to that party, aren't you?" Calum folded his hands over his chest while giving me a glare.

"Let me explain. I was about to ask if you want to come with me. It's the party of the year and there will be girls and alcohol. So you can, you know..." I raised an eyebrow and mimicked Cal's position.

Calum sat on the floor across the room. He was wearing a black T-shirt and skinny jeans, his usual look.

I sat next to him. "Come on, it'll be fun."

"You know what happened last year and we promised we weren't going to any of her parties again." He stood up and started walking around the room.

"I know, it's just-" "Just what Melody?" Calum cut me off. I have never seen Calum this startled.

"C-calm down. You're scaring me." My voice cracked. Tears started to form in the corner of my eyes. He must've noticed because his expression changed into a softer one.

"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to scare you like that. It's just-" he sighed " you promised me." He sat next to me. Tears were threatening to spill from his eyes. "I just don't want what happened last year to repeat itself."

Last year,we sneaked out to the party. Or at least, Calum sneaked out. I had permission. We went in Calum's car. Since Calum had his driver license and I didn't. We didn't know where we were going and I freaked out. We started arguing and I took ahold of the driving wheel. The car lost control and we crashed it into a tree. Then the police came and called Calum's mum, and let's just say, it wasn't very pretty. Joy grounded him a month without his car keys.

"Can't we just stick to tradition?" Calum change the theme. "I really don't want you to go. Please stay with me." He gave me the puppy eyes and he knew I couldn't resist them.

"Fine," she sighed. "but under one condition." Melody gave him an evil look.

"What is it?" Calum asked with narrow eyes, knowing that I'm the mastermind when it came to conditions.

"You will do everything I want for two days-no, two weeks and I will use your car whenever I want and you'll go shopping with me every time for the next three months " I said looking at him mischievously.

"Not my baby!" He gasped.
"Yes, give me the keys." Calum has this sweet ride, it's a blacked out Audi R8. He never lets me drive it so it's the perfect opportunity.

"Hey but that's not one, its three!" Calum's protested holding three fingers in the air.
"Take it or leave it." I grinned at him

"Deal. Thanks Melody. I'm going to get the movies and grab some popcorn. I'll be right back." He threw me the keys to his car.

"It's fine, but make sure the popcorn is extra-butter or you will suffer the consequences." I glared at him.

You got it, chief" he saluted and went downstairs.

*six hours later*

It was the end of the last movie and she was bored. Calum had fallen asleep on top of her a while back and she wanted to move but didn't want to wake him. So she slipped from under him and laid down very close to him.

Both of their parents were used to them sleeping in the same room, even the same bed. They said that it was fine with them but no funny business.

She drifted off thinking how could a guy and a girl be best friends like in this case. They got along very well.
