Saturday morning I wake up to the sunlight shining through my window. Tonight Ben is hosting a bonfire at the beach, a whole bunch of people from school are going to be there. Im exited, its going to be fun. I get up and get ready for the day, I have a few errands I need to run before Bens bonfire tonight.
When im ready, I grab my checklist and head out to my car. My phone rings as Im buckling my seatbelt, its Ben so I answer.
¨Good morning love,¨ He says.
¨Good morning,¨ I say.
¨What time do you think you'll be at the bonfire?¨
¨Im not sure, I have a few things I need to do but ill call you when im on my way¨
¨Okay, and one more thing,¨ he adds.
¨Yeah?¨
¨I miss you,¨ he says and hangs up before I have a chance to say it back.
I smile to myself as I put my phone away and pull out of the driveway. My first stop is the boutique, Im going to buy a new dress for tonight.
When I walk into the store, a cheery sales lady greets me.
¨Hello sweetie, can I help you find anything today?¨ She asks.
¨Actually yes, Im looking for a sundress,¨ I tell her.
The lady smiles and runs off, I browse the store and a few minutes later she comes back with four sundresses, then she shows me to a dressing room to try them on. After I tried all of them on, I decided on a light blue sundress with lace covering it, since blue is Bens favorite color. I pay for the dress and check buy new sundress off of my checklist. The next place I go to is the grocery store, my parents always have me do the shopping since theyre so busy.
While im at the store, I see Henry there too. He wasn't looking at me though, and this is probably just a coincidence. I was browsing the food and putting things in the cart when I got a text from Ben.
11:56 AM
Ben: How's the errands going my love?
Me: Good, im getting them done as fast as I can so I can see you sooner :)
Me: Well, I saw Henry at the grocery store a few minutes ago, but he didn't see me.
After I told Ben that, he called me. I walked down an empty isle so no one could hear me on the phone.
¨Sarah, get out of there, now,¨ He said urgently.
¨Ben its fine, there's plenty of people here and it's just a coincidence,¨ I assured him.
¨Im worried about you Sarah, please, you can get groceries another day¨
¨Ben, I promise, im safe, there's nothing to worry about, I have to go now, ill talk to you later,¨ I said, then hung up before he could argue.
As I continued walking around the store, I only saw Henry one other time, so really there was nothing to worry about. Ben was worried over nothing. After I got everything I needed, I checked out, and loaded the groceries in the car. When I got back home, I saw Ben sitting on my front porch.
¨Ben what are you doing here?¨ I ask him as I grab bags from the car.
¨I couldn't get to the store fast enough so I came here to make sure you were okay,¨ he said as he helped carry bags inside the house.
¨Thats so sweet, but I told you id be fine, now go get ready for the bonfire, im sure there's lots left to do,¨ I told him.
¨Youre right, but please, let me know if you see Henry again or if you need anything,¨ He said before he laid a kiss on my forehead and walked out to his car.
I finished putting groceries away after he left and crossed that off my list. The last thing I had to do was buy some things for my mom that she needed for work. I don't know why she can't just do it herself, she told me she didn't need them for another week so im sure she couldve found time to do it herself. I went anyway because I wanted to get it out of the way, and I still had two hours before Bens bonfire.
When I got to the office supply store I saw a car there that looked like Henry's but I didn't think anything of it. I spent almost an hour looking for the things my mom needed but they didn't have them here. There was an hour till the bonfire still but Ben said people are already showing up, so I decided to just head over early.
4:26
Me: I finished my errands early, I'm on way way over :)
Ben: Okay, how soon will you be here?
Me: I'll be there in 10 minutes at most, do you need me to pick anything up while I'm out?
Ben: No, we have everything here but thanks, I'll see you soon.
I was still in the office supply store parking lot walking to my car when I texted him this, so I didn't notice Henry standing by my car when I got to it. When I saw him, I froze and didn't go any closer. He was leaning against my car staring at me. I didn't approach him, I slowly backed away before he could see me, but before I could get away he saw me. I put on a fake smile, just like he did and talked to him.
"Henry, hey," I said cautiously.
A mysterious smile spread across his face when he said, "Sarah darling, good to see you"
"I have somewhere to be, so could you please move so I could get in my car?"
He looked around the parking lot slowly and said, "Oh but Sarah, we have so much to catch up on," and before I could do anything he grabbed me by the arm and covered my mouth with his hand. He walked me over to his car and made sure no one was looking.
"So you either cooperate and this can be easy or I will do it the hard way," he said.
I struggled in his grip trying to get out but he was trying my hands and feet with zip ties. I could feel a tear roll down my cheek as he threw me in the back of his car. His windows were tinted so people couldn't see in, my heart was racing and there was nothing I could do to escape. I started screaming for help but that didn't last long because he put a piece of duck tape on my mouth. I'm going to die, I thought, Everyone's to busy to know I'm gone. All I could do was hope that Ben noticed I never showed up and will come looking for me.
Wherever we were going, it took almost an hour to get there, at least it felt like an hour. Henry hadn't said a word to me this entire car ride. When he finally parked somewhere, it was dark outside and I had no clue where we were. The entire ride I was receiving texts from Ben, I could feel my phone vibrate in my pocket. He called a few times but I couldn't answer because I couldn't reach my phone. Henry opened my door and violently yanked me out of the car, I fell onto the ground.
"Get up," he said.
It looked like we were in the middle of no where, but I got up, and he walked me into an abandoned warehouse. This is the end, I thought.
