A New Begining

The next morning I woke up to a knock on the front door. I slowly get up and shuffle over to the door to see who it is. I'm surprised when I see Ben on my doorstep. The lock clicks when I turn it and I open the door to let Ben inside.

"Hey Sarah," he says with a bright smile.

"Hi Ben," I say and can't help but smile.

"I was wondering if you wanted to go get coffee with me and go for a stroll on the beach"

"Oh sure, let me just get ready, you can hang out in the living room while you wait," I point towards the couch.

Ben walks in, takes his shoes off, and looks around before going to sit down. I run upstairs to my room and get ready.

After a few minutes Ben calls to me, "You ready yet?"

"Yeah, I'm coming," I yell down to him as I grab my purse and head downstairs.

Ben looks at me wide eyed with his mouth hanging open while I stand at the bottom of the stairs.

"What? Is something in my hair?" I ask frantically.

"No, you just look so pretty"

I blush and look away to hide my embarrassment. I smile and say thanks as we walk out to his car. Ben hurried around to the passenger side door to open it for me. I slide into the car and he shuts the door behind me.

After we get our coffee from the cafe we walk across the street to the beach. We talk about basic things as we walk in the sand and Ben slips his hand into mine. We walk down the beach holding hands and sipping coffee for while until I tell him we need to turn around and go back.

"Why do we need to go back? What's wrong?" He asks.

"Regretting going out on a date with me already?" He jokes.

"No, of course not," I say.

"Then what is it?"

I headset before saying, "Kades here too"

"Oh really?" Ben asks.

"Yeah, so let's go"

"Is he looking?"

I glance over at Kade and see him staring at us, "Yep"

"Well then, let's give him a show," Ben says and before I can respond he gently grabs my waist and pulls me into a deep kiss.

The whole world melts around me and I wrap my arms around his neck. I slowly run my fingers through his hair as his hands travel up my back. We slowly pull away from each other and smile, he holds me close, takes my hand again, and we walk away.

As we walk down the beach I can't stop thinking about the kiss, what does it mean? I need to find out.

"Ben?" I ask.

"Yes beautiful?" He says and makes my heart melt.

"What was that? Why did you kiss me?"

"Because I like you Sarah, it's as simple as that"

I smile and lean into him as we walk and I say, "Well I like you too Ben," and that was that.

I returned to school on Monday with no care in the world. Ben started meeting me at my locker every morning and I could tell that it was making Kade jealous. Ben and his friends sat with my friends and I at lunch, which Kade never did, that was one of many changes I liked. The week flew by and before I knew it, it was Saturday. I had plans for the weekend so I didn't get to see Ben till Monday.

Monday morning I waited at my locker for Ben, I had fun that weekend but I missed him, usually he was always with me. When he walked up to me I pulled him into a hug then gave him a quick kiss.

He looked at me and said, "What's wrong princess?"

I must have looked sad waiting for him.

"Nothing, I just missed you," I said.

"Wanna skip class and go for a bike ride instead?"

"Ben you know we can't do that," I said with a laugh.

"Fine, fine, I'll see you later babe," he said as he kissed me on the forehead and walked to class.

I walked down the hallway and into my next class with a small smile on my face, I am so lucky to call this boy mine. I let go of Kade, my friends all care about me, I have Ben, though my family situation didn't change, my life is perfect. Well, except for one small detail, but that doesn't matter anymore and ill tell Ben soon enough.
