We landed on the roof of my house. I sadly climbed out and Steven let out a rope ladder. We both climbed down and hugged on my front step.
"Remember me." He whispered as he placed a small box in my hand.
"How could I forget you?" He kissed my cheek and climbed back up the ladder.
I took a deep breath and knocked on the boor. There was some rustling inside and my mom opened the door.
"Kat? How did..." She trailed off and hugged me.
"It's a long story mom and you wouldn't believe half of it." I hugged her tight and realized my dad was now standing behind her. "Dad? You are here." I starred at him, unsure what to say.
"Yeah, I'm here princess." I raced over to hug him. "They didn't hurt you did they? How did you get away?" He checked me over for marks.
"I'm fine dad, a man saved me." I stated.
"Who?"
"I'll explain later."
"You must be starving. Stop pestering her. She must be traumatized." My mom cut in and lead me to the kitchen. "What can I make you?" She asked, but all I could do was look at the new stove and cabinets.
"You renovated?" I asked.
"Well, yeah, the oven was ruined and the foam from thw fire extinguisher made a mess of the wood cabinets." She shrugged.
"You're welcome." I chuckled sarcastically.
"Pancakes?" I didn't realize she was already cooking when I was checking out the kitchen.
"Yes please, it has been a long time since I got a home made meal." I licked my lips and dug in. "Is Arthur still sleeping?" I asked between mouth fulls.
"Yes." My mom smiled.
"I'll go wake him for presents." I smirked and ran upstairs.
"Wake up. Wake up. Wake up. Come on it's present time! How are you not the first one up?" I jumped up and down on his bed.
"It's not the same without Kat." He hid under his pillow.
"But I'm here silly. Come on!" I shook him and made him look at me.
"Kat! You're here!" He hugged me tightly. "I missed you so much! How did you get here?" He asked excitedly.
"Well... don't tell mom and dad, but Santa's son save me. I got to fly around in his sleigh and everything." I said in a serious whisper.
"I thought you didn't believe in Santa." He whispered back.
"Minds and be changed Arthur." I smiled and he hugged me again.
We raced downstairs and fought to be the first one to open a gift. My mom smiled and directed the show like she always does, giving us each a gift to open at the same time, like a normal mom with two kids. We all sat around the Christmas tree and exchanged gifts. I felt bad cause I didn't get to do any shopping before I was kidnapped. Luckily 'Santa' left something for them in my place.
"How did you knkw I'd be here on Christmas?" My dad asked.
"Don't question your daughter." I smirked and hugged him as he held up the goofy dad tie Steven left, it even sings Jingle Bells.
We laughed and sang and ate turkey and had the best Christmas by far.
