"Okay." Page began. "We're about to arrive at the 'bad guys' base. The good news is that this will most likely be quick. The bad news is that we're no matter what, going to have to take a detour and get into a fight with some of the members."

"Should we give the other group a name?" John suggested, picking at a hangnail and shifting his eyes to look at page. I then noticed the knifes strewn everywhere like a shopping display. There were dozens of weapons.

"Fine by me." Page shrugged.

"Ooh! What about Dead Meat? Since they're gonna be pretty much dead meat after they deal with us!" Rose smiled.

"We're not THAT powerful..." Page muttered.

"What's this 'detour'?" I asked, curious.

"...you'll see when we get there." Page answered.

At first I didn't think that we'd be walking through something like this. As expected, Rose was excited. But we were going to a popular Freak hangout spot called Dev's Night Market. In other words, it's kind of like a black market but that's only in some shady alleyways. But it's mostly a place where you can get some food and hangout with friends. It was really really really pretty in its own way. The colorful lights that were strung around food stalls, the crowded walkways, the loud chatter of excited Freaks, the amazing smells. I could tell I was going to want to come back here sooner or later.

But Page set us straight. We weren't here to browse, we were here to fight Dead Meat. The name still made me snicker, but it diminished quickly.

We walked briskly down a few alleyways, some vendors looking at us through their peripheral vision. We all moved a little bit closer, the vendors always giving us sideways stares of suspicion, hate and opportunity.

It was a miracle that I had Page to lead us down these mazes of alleyways, each alley looked the same with walls of cement, the moonlight casting weird shadows along the endless walls of gray, hard, cement.

And finally, we reached our destination. Rose flew us up onto rooftop level, and we descended downwards, the tension so thick and present you could almost cut it with a knife.

The first rain of punches, violence and mild confusion wasn't so bad. A few seconds later, everything hurt. I was able to escape from the cat fight and running down any hallway, a hallway I hoped led down to our stolen stash.

Two Freaks confronted me, but they didn't spring into attacking me with every possible opportunity. One was short, had ones growing up his arm and his brown hair was shining in the bleak sunlight. I suspected he was trained to be one of the agricultural workers in Military, there were so many option to choose from it was hard to keep track. The other was tall, muscular and looked like they made it into Military for a couple of years and served in the little wars that ensued after some conflict with other areas of land. We were all unsure of what to do.
"Are you... Cathal and Timmy?" I asked.
The shorter one's eyes widened. He nodded vigorously and silently led me and the other one down a corridor.

After waiting a few seconds to see if there was anyone coming and scurried to a door. He slid some of the vines in and a satisfying click indicated that the food stash was ours.

The shorter one used his vines to transfer the boxes of cans to the roof that the taller one loaded into his arms as quietly as they could without drawing suspicion.

Soon we were on the roof, securing the boxes to an abandoned trade vehicle.

After all our boxes were transferred to the roof we opened the door just to it was slightly ajar to be met with a busy hallway. We shut the door, waiting a few minutes in tensioned silence.
"So... you're Cathal..." I whispered motioning to the taller one who was giving me a skeptical look. He nodded, crossing his arms. "...and you're Timmy." He nodded, signaling for me to be quiet as he opened the door again.

After exiting the room we dashed for the nearest exit. Cathal seemed to know his way around here, we bumped into a few Dead Meat members and soon we had a couple chasing us. We were met with a dead end, only us, a window and a couple Dead Meat members chasing after us. Timmy seemed to gain speed as we drew closer to the window. I had no idea on what he was doing. But as soon as Cathal kicked the window, shattering it, we dove into the air. Everything seemed to go into slow motion as we fell through the air.

Suddenly in a flurry of feathers Rose dove into us, catching us and setting us onto a nearby rooftop. And to our surprise, Page, John and our food was waiting for us. We boarded our (stolen) trade vehicle and zoomed away.
