With the sunset's light filtering in through the "curtains" (they were really patches of unusable cloth hastily sewn together. None of us were good at sewing so the curtains are really bad but they're better than nothing.) we stirred. After a breakfast of canned apricots we took a day to scavenge for more food, we were running noticeably low.

What we usually do is look around the nearby stores and take some stuff before other groups like Dead Meat come. But all the nearby stores are either boarded up, burned or hazardous to our health so our only options were the garbage cans and dumpsters.

The usual chatter filled the concrete alleyways as the sounds of shuffling cardboard and rattling of empty cans and other products became more audible.

"Hey, look! I found something!" Timmy held up a frisbee. It was visibly cracked but it still worked fine.

"Oh, awesome! Throw it to me!" Rose called a little ways deeper into the alleyway. The frisbee sailed over my head as I ducked and the sound of a whoop signaling Rose had caught it filled the alleyway. They continued this for a while until it bounced off of one of the walls in the alleyway breaking a piece off of it as it sat on the ground, useless. They moaned in defeat and went back to rummaging through the dumpsters.

As we headed back after a long day of scavenging with bags full of food the bleak sunrise light shone through the bad curtains and revealed two pairs of yellow eyes staring straight back at us.
