With the wall in sight we kept running. Shouts and footfalls indicated that Military were closing in. Page dropped to the ground with a cry and when we turned back he yelled, "NO! LEAVE ME! KEEP GOING!" And so we ran. It was impossible to hear everything with the helicopter motors making such a loud noise since it was so close to the ground. But you could hear a gunshot when it was fired. And I instinctively knew at that point more than half of us would never make it outside of Kinetown walls. If we even made it to the walls.
Timmy, making a slide into an opening he created in one side of the walls, slid into the maze of violence, death and darkness that waited there for us. A few Military fell to their death when Timmy pulled the plant slide out from underneath their feet but it was insignificant compared to the hundreds that were chasing us.
A system of running, ending lives and using what little energy I had left was the only thing on my mind right now. And suddenly, there was a light at the side of one wall within the walls. Which happened to be made by Cathal.
His eyes gave us a look that wasn't him. Everything wasn't him. Especially those tentacle-things that came out of his back. It was horrifying and a bit disturbing all at the same time. It seemed as if the tentacles were made out of darkness, and the darkness consumed half of his body. His left eye was black and the iris was a red-ish orange.
I had barely enough time to look at him when Rose charged at him, stabbing him, and using her momentum, pushed both of them out of the hole. Where we were in the walls was a 2423 ft drop to the ground. And I knew it was the last I would ever see of them.
Only Erik and I were left, John had dropped down with Page, Timmy was shot when he destroyed the plant bridge, and Rose took her own life to take Cathal's. We kept running. I swallowed down the sadness, pain and guilt as my legs burned with pain.
I heard a cry from behind me and saw Erik being tackled by Military. They were shocking him with electricity. I couldn't take the sounds of screaming anymore. Grabbing a bomb that was going to be used to blast open the wall, I activated it and jumped through the hole and landed on hard, dry ground just before the flames and shockwave of the bomb could take me too. I would have preferred to die, but I had done it. I had reached the outside of Kinetown walls.
Breathing in fresh, unfiltered air, I ran, faster and boosted by fresh air. There were more helicopters now, and a bullet ran through my calf. It slowed down my running as I screamed, more bullets riddled my body. When I fell, a seed bounced out of my pack, into the ground and sprouted a bush that grew instantly. It had different kinds flowers that were arranged to spell, "Page, John, Cathal, Timmy, Rose and [your name] were here!" You smiled before the impact of the bullets knocked you into the ground and into a sleeping state where you would never wake up.
Note:
Yes, you are dead. All the characters are dead. Okay. I'm sorry. I'm not satisfied with the ending I wrote but I was running out of ideas and the story was crumbling before my eyes. It was really fun writing this while the fun lasted, and thank you. Thank you, thankyouthankyouthankyou, for reading this.Inspired by:
