He woke up suddenly. Again this damned nightmare. He got up and went to the window. He remained standing, looking at the galactic capital, living day and night with his countless lights. But Obi-Wan had no heart to rejoice in the beauties of the city. Instead, he was thinking about his beauty, Satine, who died four months ago. Not a day of respite and his spirit was tortured during these four months of mourning. The young Jedi took a chair and sat down, still facing the window. His eyes gauged the lights, but his spirit wasn't focused on them. That is when he lost himself in his memories. He remembered everything, every detail was printed in his memory: the form of the room, the place, the number of persons, the sadness in the Duchess's face... Every detail was important and so precious, he couldn't forget them.

Flashback

He had been tricked. Miserably. And above all, he put the Duchess's life in danger. He blamed himself for committing this stupid mistake. How could that have happened? How could he let himself go, thinking he was out of danger? With deception, he let Darth Maul's men take him to the throne's room...

He arrived in the throne's room of his enemy without realizing it. His mind was too befuddled with regrets, and he couldn't come back to reality. One of the soldiers pushed him severely on his knees and struck him with a blaster at the same time. This should have hurt him or make him grin, but he didn't react or sense something. He pulls himself together when he heard a lightsaber's sound. It wasn't a lightsaber: it was the Dark Saber. He raised his head, hit by reality: Maul is going to kill Satine! He tried to get away, in vain. The guards were maintaining him firmly, not letting him a chance to go. With satisfaction, Maul approached Satine, who was hanging in the air for minutes now, and he pierced her frail body with the dark blade. The Duchess raised her hand, helpless and trying to touch Obi-Wan for the last time. But she couldn't even move or breath normally. Satisfied, Maul let her fall on the floor and the guards released deliberately Obi-Wan. He rushed towards his beloved Duchess and took her in his arms, holding her hand. Maul sat on the throne again, enjoying in advance the scene that will happen.

Obi-Wan was devastated. Not only he put his entourage's life in danger, but also it wasn't just anyone the sith killed. It was Satine, the Duchess of his heart, the person he loved the most but with who he couldn't live a love story: she was a Duchess, and him a Jedi. Their love was doomed to failure, as pure and strong it was, he couldn't afford himself to break the protocol. That was what his reason dictate to him months ago. Now, he deplored his decision. He should have left the Order for her, and told her that he loved her. He should have been able to save her, but Maul was aware of his weak point and he didn't hesitate to use it against him. But what broke him the most was the last words of the Mandalore's ruler. Remember Obi-Wan... I always loved you, and I always do...
And it's on these last words that she sank.

End of the flashback

Every detail was present. He was able to hear this dying voice, to feel this hand on his cheek, these deep blue eyes that seemed serene while death was approaching... All these details were sacred. His vision was trouble: for the first time in four months, he gave free rein to his pain and cried.
