Peter is 14 (HAHAH I wrote this months ago and now 14 is my fav number!!)
What does sound, well, sound like again?
This was the question in Peter's head all the time. He was fully deaf. He lost his hearing in a car accident when he was 6. He banged his head on the seat when the impact happened. Something in his head happened and suddenly, he could not hear. He learned sign language, and had a tutor who tried to help him keep his voice and be able to speak simple phrases, like 'okay' or 'yes' without his hearing. He had been this way for 9 years and he was pretty used to it by now. When Stark Industries opened an internship program for disabled people, he signed up. He knew he probably wouldn't get in, but he still applied. Months later he got a letter from SI. He ran to May and showed her, no words needed to see how excited he was. May read it over and her eyes widened. She may have screamed, but Peter couldn't tell. They went to Peter's favorite restaurant to celebrate.
The following Monday, after school, he went to Stark Tower and walked up to the reseptionist's desk. The lady looked up and asked something. Peter cocked his head in confusion. She looked back at him in confusion. 'I'm deaf,' he signed. The woman seemed to get the idea and waved someone over. She spoke and the person she waved over signed everything for him. 'Welcome to Stark Industries. What is your name?' The second lady signed. Peter smiled. 'Peter Parker,' he answered. The lady smiled back and handed him a package. 'Inside of here you will find your badge, a pamphlet, a schedule, a list of rules, and a letter explaining everything about your internship,' the lady signed. Peter nodded. 'Since you are deaf, you must be very careful. You will be working the 'deaf lab' so you'll be with other deaf people. When you are ready head the elevator and sign 34,' she informed him. He nodded again. She shot him a smile and signed a good luck. Peter smiled and waved. Then he headed to the elevator. '34' He signed. The elevator started moving. Soon the doors opened and he walked out. A person was standing there waiting for him. 'Hello! Welcome to the Deaf Lab!' The person signed. Peter grinned. 'Hi! I'm Peter Parker,' Peter sighed, introducing himself. 'I'm Jake,' the person Introduced himself. Jake started walking and Peter followed. Jake lead him to a desk. 'This is your space. In a little bit, when everyone else gets here, I'll bring you an assignment,' Jake signed, 'open your package and look through the stuff while you wait.' He walked away and Peter sat down. He opened the packet and grabbed everything out. He pulled out a yellow badge with an orange stripe on it. It had his name and picture. He cringed. He could never get a good picture. Then he found a pamphlet for Aunt May. Then he pulled out a schedule. It told him what days he would be working on and at what time. Then the list of rules. He read them over and laughed. They were kid of funny, and he thought they were joking until he remembered that something had to happen for the rule to be made. He laughed even harder and then calmed himself down. He pulled out the last thing which was a letter that explained everything he would be doing. He read it and by the time he finished, every intern had gotten there. To get Peter's attention, mechanical hands came down from the ceiling and waved in front of his face. He looked up and the hands signed a little bit. He turned around. Jake stood before about 4 other interns. He introduced himself and told a little bit about the lab. Soon he finished and they all signed applause. Jake smiled. Then then told them to wait for a little as he handed out assignments. When he got to Peter, he handed him a slip of paper. 'You will be working with Mr. Stark himself. He saw your application and did a background check and was impressed. He has been around Hawkeye, who is also deaf, so he knows a little bit of asl," Jake signed. Peter's eyes widened. 'I'm supposed to take you upstairs,' Jake signed. Peter nodded and stood up. Jake lead him to the elevator and said something. The elevator started moving. Then the doors opened. 'Hello Mr. Parker,' Tony signed as soon as Peter walked out. 'Hi,' Peter sighed back. 'My asl is kind of rusty, so Friday will translate,' he signed sloppily. Peter looked around for a person. When he didn't see one, he looked back to Mr. Stark. 'My A.I,' he explained. Peter nodded. Mr. Stark lead him to a lab. The mechanical arms from earlier came down and signed some stuff for him. It was just rules and stuff. Peter sighed about himself for Mr. Stark. When it reached 9 oclock, Friday signed it for him. Peter smiled and waved goodbye.
