I'm officially the girlfriend of one Alex Brightman. It feels surreal. Two weeks had gone by I still felt giddy just thinking about the day we became official. We'd been on two dates since and so far so good, no more weird threesome dates thank god.
On that note though, Natasha and I have been getting along really well and it's almost as though nothing even happened. I haven't told her about Alex and I yet, but I'm planning to soon. I just hope she's as cool about it as she seems.
Alex comes over every couple of days after rehearsal and we usually either talk and cuddle or watch movies. He's the perfect gentleman and is always making sure I'm okay with everything and not too overwhelmed. I couldn't have asked for a better person to share this entire experience with.
We had two more weeks until opening night and to say I was terrified would be an understatement. It's not as though it's my first show ever, but it was my Broadway debut and I'd never had an audience of over 500. The Winter Garden has become home over the past few weeks and the cast and crew are now like family. We've all made plans for an opening night party at Alex's place which sounds good and Alex seemed pretty keen to host. Although, I somehow have a feeling I'm going to be giving him a hand with it, I'm not complaining though, the more time I spend with him the more I feel myself fall for him.
I'm going to the theatre early today to try on some parts of my costumes that have been made. Alex should arrive about an hour after me. He was going to come early as well, but he had a doctors appointment. It was about getting a camera down his throat for an interview to show how he uses ventricular fold phonation to create his Beetlejuice voice.
I picked up a mocha from a corner coffee shop and slowly wandered to the theatre taking in the city. I moved here two years ago and it still amazes me every single day. It could be my new found relationship and feelings for Alex, but I finally feel at home here.
I pushed open the front door to the theatre and was instantly hit with familiar smell of the Winter Garden. I could hear Kerry and Rob going through their first number on stage and decided to go around the back so I wouldn't be disturbing them.
As I made my way through the back entrance, Kerry and Rob were on stage rehearsing their scenes so I decided to go find Presley to run over some of our lines. I walked downstairs and arrived at Presley's dressing room giving the door a soft knock, "Hey Prez, can I come in?". No answer. I could hear a soft cry of "I can't get this! I'm just gonna fail!" followed by few sniffles. I slowly opened the door to reveal a crying Presley glaring a laptop screen with crumpled up paper scattered around the room.
"Hey Prez, what's wrong?" I asked walking over and wrapping her in a hug. I could feel her chest heaving up and down and my heart broke a little. I held her until she calmed down, released her grip on my middle and looked up to me, "I can't understand any of my maths and if I fail I have to go back to school full time and I won't be able to stay in the show" she mumbled as tears started pooling in her eyes again. Standing her up I held onto her shoulders and looked her dead in the eyes, "That's not going to happen okay? We're going to get through this. It hasn't been too long since I had to help my sister with her maths when she was at school. I'm sure I can give you a hand" I said trying to scan her face for a reaction. She seemed deep in though for a minute before looking up at me and nodding, "Please Krystal, that would be amazing" she said quietly wrapping her arms around me once again.
We sat discussing what she'd learnt so far and she was showing me her notes from last time she was in class. Trigonometric ratios. Fantastic, it could have been tax or wages, but no, finding unknown angles of triangles was the what they were studying. I vaguely remember how to use them to calculate angles and side lengths of triangles, but I was definitely gonna need a refresher before I even think of trying to teach it to Presley. The last thing she needs is someone telling her the wrong thing and confusing her.
I felt a kiss on the back of my head and arms come from behind and wrap around my waist "What're we up to in here?" Came the voice of Alex who had perched his head on my shoulder. "Perfect timing actually babe, we're going to help Presley pass maths" I explain releasing myself from Alex's grip to stand next to the girl in question. I wrapped her in a side hug and continued on "I think as a cast we should be able to work something out" "Definitely" Alex replied nodding. I could see the concern in his eyes for the poor girl, "We're here to help for anything Presley, you're like family to us and family help each other out when they need it." Alex explained with a warm expression. Their relationship was adorable, it reminded me of the way my dad and I had been when I was a kid. "Besides we're not letting go of you without a fight" I chimed in.
"GROUP HUG!" Kerry and Rob hollered from the door, when did they get there? The pair ran into the room and wrapped us all in a hug. We stayed like that until Eddie made an announcement over the in-house speaker system "Can I have a Alex B and Krystal P to the main stage please?" We all let go of each other smiling and maybe a few happy tears from one titular character, "Alright that's us, but we'll see you soon okay? You guys got this?" Alex asked looking towards Kerry and Rob who gave a thumbs up.
Alex offered me his hand, which I happily took as we made our way upstage. As we walking up the stairs my attention was taken to some mainly hand-drawn images on the walls. Alex noticed and explained that they were drawn by some fans during the D.C run and the cast wanted to bring them with them when they moved. They really were the most adorable bunch to exist.
Alex turned to me before we stepped out onto the stage "Do you wanna come over tonight? I could make dinner and we could hang out and watch a movie?" Alex asked "I'd love too" I answered kissing him on the cheek with a smile. "I've gotta go see Will about costumes before we leave though" I quickly reminded him "No worries babe, I'll finally get to see what it's gonna look like" he said returning my smile. "You say that as though you haven't already done a few months worth of performances in Washington" I laughed nudging him. "Bubs, this one might be differenttttt" he said whining like a child
"Whatever you say, bug boy"It wasn't long before we jumped into rehearsals for the scenes leading up to and including 'That Beautiful Sound'. Alex looked completely at home with what he was doing and considering he was playing a demon from hell it was mildly concerning, but also really cute to watch him in his element.
A/N:
Hey guys! Sorry about the wait on this one, I kinda hit a roadblock and just had to write chapters for later on because I couldn't word things the way I wanted them in this chapter. Even now I'm not 100% with it, but hopefully once I've finished the book I can rewrite parts. I hope everyone is staying safe and as always thanks for reading!- Coco xx
