"Okay so here we can see Beetlejuice becoming somewhat of a bad influence to Lydia, Alex I want you to forget how you did it in D.C. I know it's going to be hard, but you're alongside Krystal, not Sofia. You click in a way with Krystal that you didn't with Sofia. That relationship was more like the chaotic uncle coming to stay, whereas with Krystal it's like you're best friends. Does that make sense?" Timbers asked looking mainly at Alex for an answer. "Yeah, I know what you mean I think it'll just take a bit of getting used to" a very deep-in-thought Alex replied, "I think the two of you will work something out but just remember, opening night is in thirteen days" Eddie ever-so-kindly reminded us.
"Now about the arrangement for the reprise, we've got some lyrics changes for you Alex, but don't worry they shouldn't be too hard to get" Eddie explained walking to the stage and handing Alex some sheets of paper.
We finished up with Timbers and Eddie, thanking them and bidding them farewell before collecting any loose props that had been placed around us.
"Okay, well I have to go see Will about my costumes, you wanna come?" I asked getting ready to walk away. "I'll be down soon, I just wanna talk to Eddie about the reprise on the song we just did"Alex replied with a look on his face that I'd never seen on him before, worry. "Hey, are you okay?" I asked him walking back over and taking his hand, "Don't worry about me bubs, we'll talk later okay?" Alex said kissing me in the forehead before leaving on the opposite side of the stage. I stood there for a minute confused at what had just happened.
Once I'd snapped myself out of my dazed state, I started my way to see Will. I was taking my mic off and handing it to the tech guys backstage when I ran face first into Dana.
"Shit sorry!" I exclaimed embarrassed, "You're fine it was half my fault anyway" Dana laughed back, "Anyways, I'm Dana." She said smiling and giving me a hug. "I'm Krystal, you're playing the Girl Scout right?" I asked, hugging her back. "Yup that's me and I'm also another understudy for Lydia, after Presley that is" she explained "Well if I'm away I don't think I have anything to worry about then with the two of you in charge" I laughed. We were talking about our costumes for a few minutes and then parted ways.
I knocked on the door frame twice giving Will some warning before I made my entrance into the room. "Oh Krystal! I thought that was you! How've you been?" Will said coming up and giving me a hug and kiss on the cheek. "Good thanks, things are finally starting to fall into place and it feels amazing" I replied happily, "With Alex as well I see" Will said giving me a knowing glance with a mischievous grin "Yes with him too" I admitted as my cheeks dusted themselves pink.
"How about you?" I asked trying to changed the topic "Very good, busy, but good. Anyway, moving on! Now about this dress, I have the under layer finished and hopefully tomorrow it will be completely done! Now if I can just find..." Will trailed off as he searched through the boxes "AH here we are!" He exclaimed as he passed me the half finished dress. "If I can get you to try that on it would be great, we're pretty sure it's all good, but we want to be completely sure before making the finishing touches" he explained looking through some of his notes.
I left the costume room and went across the hall to get changed. The dress fit perfectly and was easy enough to move around and dance in. This one would be used as the base for all my costumes in the show. I wonder how similar it is the original? I'll have to ask Will or Alex later
Just as I was about to open the door and show Will how it fit, he knocked and stuck his arm in to give me a wig to try as well. I put it on and adjusted the fringe until it set somewhat evenly. I opened the door and stepped out only to have my eardrums, metaphorically, blown by the squeal of a clearly very happy Will. "You look amazing! I have GOT to take a photo and send it to the team" I giggled and obliged pulling a few funny poses. I was about to ask Will if he could send them to me when Alex beat me to it as he came into the corridor "MAN YOU'VE GOTTA SEND THOSE TO ME!" he half yelled, making his way towards us.
"Bubs, you look gorgeous!" Alex brought me into a side hug and kissed my temple, "Awww you guys are the cutesttttt!" Will gushed holding his own face in his hands. "Oh it's all him" I laughed entwining our fingers "I beg to differ" Alex argues back squeezing my hand. "Well anyway, thank you Will you've certainly outdone yourself as usual, but I think it's about time we headed off and let you get home at a reasonable time for once" I said smiling. "Ain't no rest for the wicked" He said with a chuckle.
I went back into the room and changed out of my costume and wig and into my clothes I'd had on during rehearsal. I folded the dress and stepped back into the corridor passing Will the garment and bidding him farewell before Alex and I left the theatre hand in hand. "Could you see yourself doing this forever?" he asked off in thought, "I mean I want to, but is it realistic?" I asked lookin up at him. "Well we could still stay in the industry, look at Andrew Lloyd Webber" He countered as we approached his car "That's true" I snuggled into his arm blocking the wind that had appeared to have picked up out of nowhere.
As always Alex had opened my door for me, helped me in and closed it behind me. We were both emotionally and physically drained from rehearsal so we sat in a comfortable silence on the way home and as usual, hand in hand. He was holding my hand tighter than usual and his shoulders were tensing as he exhaled.
"Alex, are you okay?" I asked looking at him "Yeah, I just wanna get home. Besides, my cute as hell girlfriend is coming over and I can't wait to make pizza and snuggle on the couch with her" He answered instantly perking up and all signs of stress and anxiety were gone.
As the car pulled into the parking spot in front of, what I can only assume is Alex's house, I felt him let go of my hand and look over at me. "You're amazing and I don't want to ever lose you okay?" he said looking into my eyes with a serious expression. "You're not going to lose me Alex, I'm right here". That was weird, I mean it was a beautiful sentiment, but something seems off with him.
Once we were out of the car Alex wrapped his arm around my shoulders and led us up to the front door of his house. He'd explained to me on the way over that this was his actual house and the one that I'd been to previously was one he shared with some friends.
Alex dug in the pocket of his sweatpants for his house keys quickly pulling them out and inserting them into the lock. He opened the door and stood back letting me walk in first, as usual. As I walked past him I kissed him on the cheek in thanks and continued my way through the door. Alex shut the door once we'd both made our way inside and came up behind me, wrapping his arms around my waist. "What do you think?" he asked resting his head on my shoulder, "I love it, Alex".
