I took some notes in math. The bell rang a few minutes later, and I ran out of the room to walk home. I heard footsteps behind me so I looked behind me to see a classmate of mine, Lucas Brown. I clearly didn't want to talk to anyone right now, so I walked faster. So did he.

I walked even faster. So did he. What's up with him? He's not a stalker right? I ran away to the tree and him following. I've had enough.

''Why the hell are you following me? What's your problem?'' I asked, not out of breath like him.

''My problem is that I care for people, and I want to help you. What's wrong?''

''Don't pity me! Go away,'' I furiously demanded. I sat down.

''No, I won't. Tell me what's wrong. I know something is up,''

''Why would you care? No one cares for me!'' I looked away from him.

''I know your friends care, your parents do, and so do I.'' He sat down beside me and tried to tilt my head towards him. I refuse to look at him.

''Why would you care? I'm a weirdo,'' He sighed and kept trying.

''I haven't been through what you have been through, I don't know how it feels but let me help you. I want to be your friend.''

That caught my attention. I turned to look at him. His light brown messy hair, his sparkly, ocean blue eyes and his caring look.  ''I don't get it. No one wants to be my friend. Even my friends gave up on me,'' I quietly said.

''That's because you haven't let them help you. Tell me what's wrong, Jamie.''

''How do you know my name?'' Well obviously, maybe he knew it in class. But no one knows my name anymore.

''Just tell me all your problems, it doesn't matter. Cry your heart out, I'll be here for you.''

"I don't think so,"

"Why not?" He raised an eyebrow at me.

"You're being very invasive,"

He instantly frowned and oh my, it was not a good look on him. "I'm sorry," he apologized.

"I.. guess. I'm not very open with people, but I'll give you a shot," I saw hope shining in his eyes. He looked so genuine and kind. He was one of the quiet boys and was pretty lonely.

"Alright, tell me anything you'd like," He gave me a comforting smile. But I was on the verge of a breakdown- an ugly one.

''My parents divorced after my boyfriend for a year cheated on me a month after we started dating. I mean, he's always been a little liar.. he seemed suspicious. He's just that kind of guy. My perfect straight A sister slowly plummeted to having failing grades and started being rebellious. She comes home drunk sometimes and does drugs. I feel like nothing. My dad still loves my mom but can't tell her because she doesn't think it's working out. He's so depressed it radiates through the neighbourhood. My mother doesn't even talk to me or my sister. She's stuck. And I am too,'' I didn't realize I was spilling everything and crying into his shirt. I hugged him like the world depended on it.

''You don't deserve anything bad that has happened to you," he rubbed my back gently.

''Why do you want to be my friend?'' I asked, still crying.

''Because I care. I want you to be happy,''

''I'm sorry, I'm ruining your shirt.'' Isn't this what all YA romance novel girls say?

''Don't worry about it. That's what friends are for, right? Being there for each other.'' He's being so nice, I couldn't help crying even more.

''I don't know anything about you..''

''I'm Lucas Brown, I play the piano, I sing, I'm average at school, kind of athletic.. You?''

''Jamie Morgan, I play the flute, um, I sing but not that much, not that smart, I swim and play badminton I guess.''

''See? You have your whole life ahead of you.'' He smiled. His smile was so enchanting... I was getting lost in his eyes. I just hope he doesn't notice.

''Right,'' I looked away. ''I'll see you at school tomorrow?''

''Sure. I'll see you tomorrow, Jamie.'' He kissed me on the cheek and walked away, leaving me stunned and dazzled. Friends don't kiss each other's cheeks, right? Why would he do that?

I walked home silently, daydreaming about him. Every now and then I'd dream about kissing him, and then I'd think it was wrong. When I got home with a huge smile on my face, my dad was sitting on the couch.

''What's got you so happy, Jamie?''

  ''Nothing..''

He probably suspected something. I wasn't going to tell him I made a guy friend. That'd be kind of awkward in our case. I headed to my room and went on my laptop. I checked Facebook and saw I had a friend request.

  Lucas Brown

I clicked accept and he was on my chat already, we started talking about ourselves and random stuff. I forgot to do my homework, so I skipped it. I never practiced my flute, so I also skipped that.

Lucas.. was hypnotising me. He was trying to make me fall in love with him, probably! I should've known..  I don't know how that thought would've came to me, but it did.
