"This is perfect," I muttered to myself, going over the table one last time. I had our dining room table set up with a nice table cloth, candles, rose petals and champagne. I'd also made food for us, which was set up on the table as well. Ariana and I had both changed our hair up this week, me more drastically. Ari went back to dark brown and I'd chopped off my extremely long hair, favouring a quiff instead. I'd also dyed my hair to a golden brown that looked more like a combination of blonde, ginger and pink from the left over red dye.
I went over to the floor length hall mirror we had, going over my outfit again. I was wearing dressy black skinny jeans with a light fuchsia button up tucked into them, a black blazer on top with the sleeves rolled up to my elbows. I made sure my hair was up right right when my phone rang.
Princess😘💕👑💋 is calling
"Hey baby," I smiled when I answered.
"I have to ruin your plan," Ari said.
"What are you talking about?" I asked frowning, my hand about to flatten my hair.
"I'm allergic to cats," she whined and I started laughing. "What?" She asked.
"I know," I laughed. "I was just planning. Doesn't mean the whole things going to happen. I was hoping you'd just get the general gist of it."
"Oh," Ari said. "Damn it."
"What? Did you go buy a cat?" I asked.
"Um..."
"Well?"
"Kind of?"
"What does that mean?" I asked, leaning against the wall, a smile on my lips.
"You'll see when I get home. I'm almost there. I love you," Ariana said quickly.
"I love you too princess," I said. "See you soon." I hung up and fixed my quiff again before going back and lighting the candles. As I finished lighting the last one I almost dropped the match.
"Ooh, dinner looks fancy!" Frankie exclaimed, coming downstairs with Zach.
"Oh shit!" I jumped and dropped the box of matches on the floor.
"You okay?" Zach asked, grabbing the box and handing it to me.
"No funny shit, I forgot you guys were here," I sighed, putting the matches back in the kitchen.
"Wow," Frankie said, slapping his hand against his chest in offence. "How rude."
"Okay guys, I'm sorry, but you gotta get the fuck out," I said, making sure everything was in place. "This is really damn important and I need you to leave."
"Okay, we'll just go back upstairs," Zach said.
"No no no!" I shouted, pushing them towards the back door as I heard Ariana's car pull up. I shoved my car keys and wallet in Frankie's hands. "Here. Go have a date night, courtesy of me, okay? Just get out!"
"Alright jeez!" Frankie said, taking Zach's hand and leaving. I sighed and shut the door behind them before running over to the front door to open it for Ari. She looked like she was struggling with something in her car, so I jogged over to help.
"Hey there lady," I murmured, wrapping my arms around her waist and kissing her cheek.
"Hi," she smiled, leaning into my arms for a moment before going back to the task at hand- removing a carrier from the car.
"Was Cinnamon not enough?" I chuckled.
"This is for you. Go away." She kept struggling to get it out of her car, so I sighed, chuckling a little, as I nudged her out of the way. Ari started to protest but I cut her off. "I won't look. I promise. Just chill." She pouted but let me bring the carrier inside.
"Can I look now?" I asked. Ari pouted, closing the front door. I smiled a little before sighing dramatically and pretending to stomp over to her before kissing her sweetly.
"Okay, now you can see," she said, kissing me lightly again. "Loving the new hair by the way."
"Thank you." I kissed her forehead before leaning down to look in the carrier before gasping. "You didn't!?"
"Surprise," Ari said sweetly. I squealed and hugged her tightly, kissing her again before playing with the little grey kitten through the bars. She meowed quietly, yawning and curling into a ball. My heart melted at the sight of her. She was adorable.
"God I fucking love you," I said happily, kissing her gently. Ari smiled and kissed me back before going to put her jacket in the coat closet. I took that time to rush my new kitten upstairs and into my room, leaving her some water in a bowl in her cage. I'd get her some food later, but I gave her a few pieces of dog food to tide her over. Then I ran back downstairs to dim the lights in the kitchen before going to get Ariana.
"Are you going to tell me why you're all dressed up?" She asked when I reappeared. She was slipping off her white heels and smoothing down her grey skirt before straightening up. I took in her whole outfit. Grey skirt, pink bralette, white cardigan and her hair up in a pony tail.
She looked stunning. But then again, when does she not look stunning?
I took her hand and led her over to the kitchen, not answering her previous question. When she saw what I had set up, her breath caught in her throat.
"You did this for me?" She breathed in awe. I simply nodded, kissing her cheek. I pulled out a chair for her and pushed it in once she was seated.
Ariana and I just had dinner. We talked about her day, about mine, and about our hopes and dreams. We'd spoken about these things before, but it felt different this time. Probably because it was different.
After a while I cleared my throat and looked at Ari, my cheeks flushing suddenly.
"What's up?" She asked me.
"I- I have to ask you something," I stuttered. Ari smiled and set her champagne glass down, giving me her full attention. I cleared my throat again and took her hand, my other one slipping into the pocket of my blazer.
"Ariana Grande Butera, when I met you almost two years ago, I fell in love. I knew right away that you were the one for me. I could feel it, in my chest. That flutter comes every time I see you, hold you, kiss you. I get that flutter just when you call my name. You know what? Fuck love. Love is such an over used word nowadays. The word love doesn't even come close to describing how I feel about you, and I honestly don't think there's a word in the English dictionary that can describe it either. So, until they come up with a better word, love will have to do. I look forward to seeing your smile every morning when I wake up, and I love knowing that your face is the last thing I see every night before I go to sleep. I love every little thing about you, and I love that you're mine. Only mine. And I want you to keep being mine forever."
I pulled a black satin box out of my pocket and opened it, revealing a princess cut white diamond on a gold band. "Ariana Grande Butera, will you marry me?"
