I woke up with the sun gleaming through the window, burning my eyes.

I rub my eyes lazily, groan and sit up to pull the blinds over the window to keep the sun from coming through it.

I fall into my back and keep my head on the soft pillow.

Suddenly, I sit up urgently and check the time.

'9:03'

"Shit, no no no" I curse and remove the covers from over my body and rush to the bathroom.

I wash my face quickly and make my way back to my room to change my clothes.

I quickly pull on a flannel and ripped jeans with my black boots and I push my hair into a ponytail and I have no time to do my makeup so, I grab my phone and backpack and quickly run down the stairs.

I grab an orange and my water bottle and I also pop a mint into my mouth since it smells horrid because I don't have time to brush my teeth.

I start get into my car, usually I walk but as you can tell, no time.

I run down the hallway, not caring if I get caught by a teacher but I probably won't.

I reached my first period class and I wait until Mr.Irwin turns around so I can sneak into the room quietly.

He finally turns around and I quietly open the door and slip into a random seat in the front.

"Rosemarie, thank you for joining us" Mr.Irwin turns around, and everyone just stares at me.

"My name is Rose and your very welcome, sir"

"I don't care and I was being sarcastic" he makes his way to my desk and places both hands onto my desk.

"Your telling me like I didn't know" I shoot at him, crossing my arms around my chest.

"Detention, for being late and talking back" He says "Seriously? Detention? It's called communicating and I shouldn't be getting detention for communicating" He just walks back to the front of the class and ignores me, continuing with the lesson.

After a few minutes, the bell rings and I quickly get out of the class, just wanting to get away from him.

He infuriates me, and not a teacher way.

So, he doesn't make me mad because of his work, it's just him personally.

"Hey, why were you late today?" Aria catches up with my fast pace and I slow down as I notice she is trying to keep my pace.

"Slept in" I shortly answer, and she nods in understanding.

"I have to get going to class, I'll see you at lunch" She waves goodbye, I give her a small smile and a wave as she turns to the opposite hallway.

Megan takes a drag from her cigarette as I lean on the brick wall, and she only smokes when she's really stressed which is quite rare because she usually has her life in order.

"What's wrong?" I frown slightly at her grumpy facial expression "Nothing"

"Okay, you tested out your lying skills on me, now tell me the truth" She looks to me and sighs, dropping her cigarette to the ground and crushing it with her brown boot.

"My brother has stage three leukaemia, and I'm trying my best to keep him hopeful and he's not buying it anymore because he's grown up and everything" She sounds as if she's on the verge of tears and I slowly embrace her in a hug, not wanting her to cry.

"My doctors say even though he has stage three, which means no cure, that they might be able to find a cure but there is only a slight chance and I'm just scared"

She lets a tear slip out and I know because I feel it on my shirt, and I feel like I could be in tears pretty soon.

I love her brother, Preston, he is so kind, caring and just an amazing person, he doesn't deserve any of this.

I remember playing with him when I was younger, Megan and I have been friends since we've been in diapers and when we were five, we thought Preston was just the cutest thing even though Megan got so annoyed of him sometimes.

"It's okay-- he'll be okay" I rub her back, trying to get her to calm down.

"Why don't we get something to eat, alright? We can get skittles or Chinese food" I suggest "You always want Chinese food" She chuckles as she wipes the dry and wet tears from her cheeks and under her eyes.

"Hey, it's my guilty pleasure"
