it was the morning before jack, wyatt, jaeden and sophia would leave vancouver. the flight to california from vancouver was only about 3 hours, and their flight was departing in the late afternoon, so they had time in the morning to still spend time together before leaving.

once again, it was only finn and sadie out of the group from vancouver spending the last hours with the group from california. millie wasn't too interested in hanging out; she had nothing against any of them, not even sophia, but she just didn't think she could handle it emotionally. noah's family was too busy doing whatever families did together, none of them were really sure as noah didn't clarify why he couldn't hang out, only saying they had "family plans". gaten and caleb had been doing extra curricular uni courses over the break, so they didn't have much time to spare.

the current time was just past 9am, everyone was awake. there wasn't really a reason that everyone had woken up before 9, but they all happened to all feel like that was a good time to get up.

wyatt, jaeden, sophia and sadie were sitting in the kitchen eating breakfast. but as there were only 3 seats at the island countertop, sadie sat on the other countertop next to the fridge. they all had been eating the last of the cereal, making sure it was gone before everyone left, because neither sadie nor finn were going to keep it afterwards.

as for finn and jack, they were sitting on the couch in the living room, quietly talking. they had been up earlier than everyone else, so they already had their fair share of the last of the cereal. both of them were quite sad about having to be apart again for months on end. the hardest part of their relationship was their distance, and having to be that far from each other for months at a time made it harder. neither of them had jobs or rich families, they were averagely middle-class, so obviously they couldn't spend hundreds of dollars on plane tickets every month or so.

neither of them knew when the next time they would see each other would be, it seemed to finn like it was going to be a long time, though, and neither of them were really emotionally prepared for that.

although, they kept their best attitude about it. jack was certain they would see each other again soon, but finn couldn't imagine it happening for a little while. he wasn't sure why, it just didn't seem possible for a while. but they distracted themselves so they didn't have to think about it too much.

"so, how's millie doing?" jack asked quietly, so no one other than finn could hear. finn hadn't really updated jack on that situation, but finn didn't talk to millie about it much. but he knew she still felt the same way.

"shes still feeling the same." finn said with a shrug, receiving a nod from jack. "i understand it, though. i don't think sadie has been texting her too much recently, but i'm hoping it'll start getting better a bit after you guys leave, i don't know."

"i guess that makes sense, yeah. i mean, i can see where she's coming from." jack said, pausing for a moment before continuing to speak. "they're a cute couple, though. i hope they get better." he continued, as finn nodded in response.

their conversation got cut off by sophia walking into the living room and sitting on the couch opposite to them, holding her half full bowl of cereal in her hand and the spoon in the other.

"hey guys, what are you talking about over here?" she asked as she sat down, causing silence to fall over the two boys. they hesitated for a moment, both trying to think of an answer.

"oh— uh— not much." finn lied, with a slightly nervous chuckle afterwards, to which sophia hesitantly nodded with a smile on her face.

sadie ended up following sophia into the living room just a couple minutes later. sadie being a little more chatty than sophia, she started a conversation with everyone, which was later joined by jaeden and wyatt as well.

they spent time reminiscing about the week they had spent together, and how fun it was. they tried their best to not think about having to be split apart again, but it was in the back of all their minds.

and nobody knew how long it would be until the next time they saw each other.
