And Chris did straighten himself out. It was hard for him to give up on alcohol, especially cold turkey. But he had a sense of direction, of purpose. And he had the unfaltering Dee who was there every moment he needed support. After a few weeks, his withdrawerel symptoms were barely noticeable, and Dee started getting him to help the President out during the day, to give him something to do.

He seemed slightly happier now too. Emily was still permanently on his mind, but he was able to focus on other things, and make himself useful. Chris's nature is very much a carer, someone who without hesitation tried to help out others. Dee used this to the best of her abilities, and together they slipped into their lives within the American President's white house with considerable ease.

Dee found herself walking through the halls, with Sara, one afternoon. They had taken a short walk around the gardens together, because Sara was complaining about lack of fresh air within her room. The two were chatting freely, happy to be spending time together with no stress or worries. Ever since the party, the two had gotten quite close. The rest of the house simply saw Dee as a distance family member, nobody of importance at all. But Sara saw Dee as someone she could trust. Someone who will look after her. And that allowed them to create a very close friendship.

Dee left Sara at her door, and heading towards Ryan's room. Upon searching, she found Ryan underneath his desk, with large headphones on, that were plugged into a Play station portable. She sat down beside him.

He stiffened when she sat with him, but didn't look up.

"What ya playing?" He completely ignored her.

Ryan was proving to be the hardest person to get along with. He seemed very negative towards her presence, seeming to believe that she had no right to be there. Dee realised that there was no chance of him talking to her this evening. As per usual.

"Try not to have too late a night, okay Ryan? And as per usual, call me if needed. Night."

Chris was waiting outside Ryan's room when Dee emerged.

"Just spoke to the security."  He told her as they started walking again.

" Oooooh. What did they say?"

"The President did what you asked. He held a meeting this morning regarding my role within this house."  His voice then dropped, to become that of a whisper. "They still are under the impression that you are indeed the President's loosely related niece. However, apparently I am hired extra protection for the kids. My role is actually to act as a body guard in a sense. Dee. Why did you ask for that? Why not say I'm just friends with you?"

"Easy" Davina whispered in reply, glancing around to make sure this discussion was not witnessed. "Why would my friend hang out with the American President's kids? That would look really suspicious. Not to mention, actually having someone within an evident security role has its benefits. If people are watching, and see no one, they get suspicious. They start looking closely at others... Others like me. To have you as their actual security, will allow you to be around them without looking out of place."

"But, I would have thought having me hidden so no one knows, would be more beneficial."

"Only to a certain extent. And as you are now apart of the official security team, we should be able to co-ordinate with the entire group to make sure everyone is safe. It may seem weird now, but trust me Chris. This will wor- Issy? What are you doing in the hallway at this time of night!"

Issy, dressed in her teadybear nighty, was standing in the next hallway. She squealed in delight, and ran into Dee's arms. Dee smiled at the little girl, wrapping her arms around her and lifting her off the ground. That made her squeal more.

The three of them then headed towards Issy's bedroom. On their way, they ran into a young maid, whom looked at them all very suspiciously. Dee smiled politely, and continued forward, however Darren hesitated with the young lady for a moment. Dee could hear them speak when she got a few meters away.

"Just accompanying the young Miss Isabella and her cousin off to bed. Is there anything I can do for you?"

"Oh, no, no! Everything is fine"

"Perfect. Have a good night!"  He jogged a little to catch up to the girls. Dee smiled, but said no more.

They arrived shortly later at Issy's room. Dragging Chris along, she ordered that he helped her into bed. Dee let Chris reluctantly help the little girl, as she did her usual sweep of the room. Nothing or nobody was in the bathroom, or cupboard. Chris was complaining that Issy couldn't possibly fall asleep with so many furry creatures in her bed, when Dee stopped by the windows.

Looking down, she noticed something. That made her blood freeze, and her heart start to pound. She swallowed deeply, trying to think everything through.

"Issy. Are your windows ever opened?" She asked her, fighting to keep her voice calm.

"We aren't allowed to open the windows."

Chris's teasing smile dropped, when he heard to tone within Dee's voice.

"What is it?"  He asked, straightening up and frowning at her.

"We have a problem. A serious problem. I believe somebody has broken in to Issy's room."
