After the break-in the night before, the entire family's plans had been cancelled for the day, while security worked on sorting out the mess that have been created. Dee had spent the complete morning splitting her time evenly between all the children; because they definitely didn't want to make it easy for her by staying all in the same room!
Late afternoon found Dee walking towards the private theatre which was where Ryan had set himself up for most of the day. Having just visited the girls, the walk to the only boy was taking quite a while. When she arrive, Davina had to get through the ring of security guards surrounding. They looked at her suspiciously, as she went through. The events from the night before rang through there minds, but what could they do? Deny Ryan the chance to see his cousin? Hardly.
The theatre was dark and very cold when Dee was finally let in. An old, not at all scary, movie was running on the screen up ahead. It was black and while, and constantly flickered. But despite that, the details of each gruesome murder that occurred in practically every scene, could be identified clearly.
A quick glance around the room indicated that Ryan had been deemed safe enough to stay here all alone. Ryan was curled up in a blanket, not even watching the movie. That was because his eyes were completely unfocused and he was staring into the shadow corners of the room.
Dee took her time in approaching him, hesitant to break him out of his trance. She chose to site a row behind him, as to allow Ryan to keep his own space.
"Ryan?" His eyes opened slightly, and flickered over to where she was.
"Oh. Hey Dee." There was none of his usual snark, in his words. Only tiredness was left.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah..."
But he didn't continue his thoughts. Davina sat there, almost awkwardly, in the silence. She could deal with practically every situation ever thrown at her, but the one currently infront of her was unknown, and she had no idea how to solve it. Ryan seemed to have alot on his mind, but how could she possibly get him to talk.
"Is there anything I can do to help, Ryan?"
"I don't need your help." He snapped.
Silence fell again. Then slowly, he turned around to Davina. He looked at her, as though he knew her scheme in a way; which would be something along the lines that she is actually Satan. Dee resisted the urge to sigh at the young boy, instead waiting patiently for his to talk to her first. This time. To which, he eventually did.
"You can't fix this." He told her, matter-of-factly. She raised an eyebrow.
"What is it that you believe needs to be fixed?" Ryan sighed, looking angrily away, as though her not instantly knowing what he was referring to confirmed his opinions of her.
"Life."
"Any chance you could be more specific?"
"My life! My families lives!"
"What' s wrong with your lives?"
"Were you even there last night!?! Someone hid a camera in my little sister's bedroom! We were stuffed into a room, locked away from the world, while other people, whom we don't actually know, deal with everything! This is not normal! This is not right! We... we can't go through this anymore..."
"What do you want to do? Get up and leave? You're important to this country! They need you!"
"Don't be stupid! The only person they need is... is my dad..." Ryan took a deep breath, struggling to control his voice.
"My death would hardly stop the world..."
Davina stopped for a moment. So this is what Ryan truly thought? This would explain his feelings towards how his life is at the moment, even how he interacts with others. How he talks to me. Davina took her time in thinking of the perfect response.
"In a way, that might be right, Ryan. But your death would stop your father's world."
He said nothing to her comment. Gently, Davina reached over to him, resting her hand on his arm. "That's why I am here. Your father can't stand the possibility of loosing you and your sisters. I will never let that happen!"
"What can YOU POSSIBLY DO!" He yelled at her. "When you are trapped in here! This stupid place! We need to escape, from here!"
"Where would you go?"
"ANYWHERE! It doesn't matter where too! Just away from here... A holiday!"
"A holiday?"
" Why not! It would be perfect!"
Holidays: Davina knew how dangerous holidays were. The unknown location, new security, limitations and restrictions from your usual methods and procedures. Just getting the subjects to their destination is a dangerous mission on its own. She knew that Holidays were to be avoided, at all costs; there were just not wise.
Dee let a smile fill her face.
"I promise. No matter what happens, I will get you your holidays!"
