'Chapter Nine ~ A Few Leaves
Carrie and I were outside walking through the garden. The queen had a beautiful garden, full of color which was hidden with leaves. Somehow the flowers still stayed beatiful and alive. We sat on a wooden bench in the garden.
It was the only time Carrie had any free time and we were trying to take advantage of it. "It's so boring..." Carrie yawned leaning her head back against the bench and I just rolled my eyes. "All I see is the color orange." She continued letting out a sigh. "You do realize it's fall, right?" I joked watching leaves fall. "You do realize it's fall, right?" She mimicked me in a high squeky voice.
It did look orange out and it made me smile. It was amazing how much leaves that fell off the trees. Which made the brown trees blend in with the orange around them. "Why aren't you talking?" Carrie asked sitting up again and furrowing her eyebrows at me. "You're talking for both of us." I spoke plainly and my mind wondered to what I said to Tilly.
I had told her she had so much sadness for both of us. My face started to burn and I felt my eyes swell up. "Woah okay. I didn't realize it was making you upset..." She shifted awkwardly on the bench and I shook my head. "No you're fine. I'm just thinking." I whispered blinking away any tears that threatened to fall. "Want to talk about it?" She asked me sounding serious.
I just shook my head side to side not able to speak. I just wanted Tilly to hug me and tell me not to cry. I wanted my mom to make me food to try to numb the pain. I wanted my brothers to start hitting me to distract me from the situation. My dad to talk about sports to get my mind off things.
I needed someone to help me and Carrie was volunteering so why wasn't I letting her? We remained silent and the fall air breezed through me. It made me shiver through my thin sweater. "We can go back inside?" Carrie suggested and I just nodded yes in the response.
Overall it was relaxing and I'm sure Carrie enjoyed her break. As we walked back from the garden my boots crushed the leaves. The mansion was warm when we walked in and it smelled like pumpkin spice.
"Kamille!" Wyatt's voice rang through the walls of the mansion. He jumped from the top of the steps down, normally it would serverly hurt a human. "Stop showing off..." I mumbled as he walked over towards me.
He flashed me and smile meaning he probably heard what I said. Wyatt leaned against the wall that I was standing near and I noticed Carried scurried back to work. "What did you want?" I ask crossing my arms over my chest. "I need you to stay in my room today..." His voice trailed off and he scratched his head awkwardly.
My heart fluttered at his words and I tried not to let my cheeks show it. "I'm having Erica over and for some odd reason she doesn't want you around." He shrugged and it felt like my heart was stabbed. Erica was the girl from dinner, Wyatt told me that he thought she was annoying.
Why would he have her over? "Why is she coming over?" I asked trying not to seem like I cared so much. "My mom wants us to marry. I don't like her but my mom insist if I spend time with her she will grow on me?" Wyatt spoke softly and looked down at his feet. I could hear the sadness in his voice and I touched his shoulder lightly.
"Don't marry her if you don't like her." I said as if it was obvious, it is isn't it? He shook his head and looked up at me. "It's not that simple Kamille. I'm a prince so I have to marry a princess." I rolled my eyes at his words and almost laughed. "That is so cliche. Does it honestly matter? You should already think the person you love is a princess." I removed my hand from his shoulder and walked up the steps.
I was hurt that he could think so idoitic even if it's mostly his parents. "Have fun with Erica." I spoke harshly and ran up to his room. When I walked in it smelled like him. I took my boots off and laid them by the door before laying down on my blankets. I grabbed the book behind my pillow and began to read.
