I heard unclear humming from afar until it became really loud and clear. I opened my eyes. I was in my couch. What happened to my head? It hurt like hell.
Sphiwe. She shot him.
I tried to get up but my body was too stiff to get up.
Me: Buhle
It came out as a whisper. That's not the volume I was going for. She had her back on me, staring at Sphiwe's body.Buhle: I need an ambulance! I just found my husband shot and my friend passed out on the couch. Please hurry!
She cried hysterically...
...
The paramedics came as fast as they could. I pretended to be still out until I was in the ambulance. They sedated me and I just woke up. Only God knows how much I hate hospitals. I felt much better than how I felt last night. My drip was finished. I got up and walked to the bathroom. When I came back I found a nurse making the bed. A doctor came in.
Dr: Mrs Mbatha.
Me: Yes.
Dr: Your high blood pressure isn't good.
Me: What does that mean?
Dr: I'm gonna have ro keep you here-
Me: No. I feel fine. I have my medication at home. I can't spend another night. I can not afford the bills.
Dr: You can pay in installments
Me: I can not afford it.
Dr: Uhm...okay. let me go prescribe some meds for you. Sister Zwane please check her vitals. The nurse nodded then he walked out.
Me: Did I arrive with my phone?
Sister Zwane: I don't know sisi. I wasn't here last night.I can't remember if I had it or not. I sat down and she checked me up.
Me: What happened to guy I-I stopped when I saw the Dr coming in, followed by the police.
Dr: Mrs Mbatha. Here with me is captain Ncube and officer Zuma.
We exchanged greetings then the dr and nurse walked out.
Captain: I'm Bheki.
Me: Bianca.
Bheki: Bianca your friend called us last night informing us about you and her husband. Are you in good space to talk?
I nodded.
Bheki: What happened?
I stared at him for a while.
Me: I can't recall a thing.
Officer Zuma: Nothing?
Me: Nothing.
Officer: What was her husband doing in your place?
Me: I don't know.
The Dr came in.
Bheki: Did she get any head injuries?
Dr: Yes she did. Some of her memory may be disrupted and regained in maybe 4 to 5 days.
They nodded.
Bheki: we'll see you after 5 days.I nodded. They walked out.
Me: isn't supposed to be my call if i want to talk to the police or not?
Dr: Not when someone was shot.
Me: Is he...dead?
Dr: No. He's in a coma.Adelaide came in and attacked me with a hug.
Adelaide: Thank goodness you're okay.
She let go and observed me and then hugged me again. The dr walked out.
Ade: Forgive me but i thought I'd find you in coma. What the hell happened?
Me: Buhle. The nerve of that woman
Ade: she hit you?
Me: No but she shot Sphiwe.
Ade: But why?
Me: Its a long story boo.
Ade: When are you getting discharged? We need to do it as soon as Thursday. They are moving it on Friday.
Me: I'm getting discharged. Where are they moving it?
Ade: I don't know. I couldn't catch it.
Me: How did you know I was here?
Ade: The guy next door.I found my clothes and dressed up.
Me: We need to plan our way in. We can't lose that money.
Ade: I have started.
Me: You're pretty active on this than a person who was scared of getting caught.
Ade: Its fun.
Me: Remember we aren't in a movie Adelaide.
Ade: That makes it even more interesting. The Dr came back with my discharge papers, the bill and Drs note...
...
Adelaide decided we drive to her apartment. She really is a Christian. A bad Christian. Jesus' believed to be portrait hung in her living room nicely.
Ade: You may take a seat.
Me: I'm so jealous. Your place is beautiful.
Ade: I am a home made interior designer.
Me: You should decorate my house next year.
Ade: Is that what you gonna do with the money?
Me: I'm gonna pay my fees.
She handed me a glass of wine.
Ade: What fees?
Me: Tertiary fees.
She choked on the wine.
Ade: You are a student?
Me: Yes. And I need about a million to start my life afresh.
Ade: You really done with Ndaba?
Me: Have been done for a very long time. Can I have juice?
Ade: Are you pregnant?
