Hard| Zach Herron

Eighteen

Third person

Chloe picked up her bloody shirt and started to put it back on.

"Don't put that back on. You can borrow one of my shirts." Zach said to her.

Zach left her in the kitchen to go grab her a shirt. She almost kissed him. Why would she do that? Maybe her mind is just messed up because of what Chase did. She told her self that, but she knew deep down that she wanted to kiss Zach.

"Here you go." Zach said as he handed her his shirt.

"Thanks." She mumbled as she put on his shirt.  It smelled like Zach and she felt safe when she put it on.

"You wanna go sit on the couch?" Zach asked her. She nodded in response. They both walked into the living room. The second they entered the room the guys immediately stopped talking and looked at Chloe.

"How you doing?" Corbyn asked her.

"I'm alright." She replied softly.

"If you need to talk to anyone. We are all here for you." Jonah said to her.

"Thanks. Right now I don't feel like talking." Chloe said to all of them.

Zach sat down on the couch and Chloe sat closely next to him.

"We were just talking about what we wanted to do tomorrow." Jack said to Zach.

The boys started arguing about what they wanted to do the next day but Chloe didn't listen. Her mind was only thinking of Chase. She thought when she broke up with him she would feel free. A part of her felt relieved but the other felt heart break. Her thoughts were interrupted by Zach nudging her.

"You sure you don't want to talk about it?" He whispered so only she could hear.

She shook her head.

"You can tell us what's wrong." Zach said softly.

She hid her face in his chest. The room got quiet as Chloe quietly cried into Zachs chest. He rubbed her back reassuringly.

The boys all stared at Chloe and Zach unsure of what to do.

"What do we do?" Daniel mouthed frantically to Zach.

"I don't know." Zach mouthed back.

"Who wants ice cream?" Jack asked as he stood up.

"Me!" Corbyn yelled as he stood up.

"Zach. You want anything?" Daniel asked Zach.

Zach shook his head.

"See you later Zach we all are gonna get ice cream."  Jonah said awkwardly as the guys all left.

Zach slightly chuckled as all the boys quickly left. They didn't know what to do in that situation.

"They are gone. You can talk now if you want." Zach whispered to the crying girl.

She lifted her head up slowly. Her eyes were red and her hair was messy.

"I should be happy to get away from Chase but it still hurts. A part of me did love him." She says softly.

"It's gonna take time to get over him but it was good that you got away from him. He shouldn't treat you like that. He doesn't deserve you." Zach said to Chloe.

Chloe cuddled back into Zach's embrace. She rested her head on his chest.

"Thanks for being such a good friend." She whispered to him.

It hurt Zach to see Chloe like this. He hated that another guy broke her heart. He wish he could tell her how he felt about her but now wasn't the right time. He probably wouldn't ever tell her because he knew she didn't feel the same way.

Chloe was struggling with her feelings. She felt mad and sad at the same time. She was mad at chase but she spent so much time with him and loved him for so long. She also was confused on how she felt about Zach. He had been just her friend for so long. Why was she now feeling different around him? He cared for her like no one else has and he was fun to be around but she never saw him as more than a friend. She needed to push those small feelings aside for Zach because she knew he didn't like her as more than a friend. Plus she didn't even understand how she felt.
