After a whole day of observing Jimin, Yifan concluded that this was all just a huge misunderstanding.
He had judged Jimin too quickly and after today, he understands that now. It was about two weeks ago now that they first met at the fair and ever since that encounter he had been biased towards him. The only thing he remembers was feeling off about him and Yoongi crying that day.
Anyone who made his shortcake cry was an instant enemy.
Though after a few days with him in the forest, Jimin didn't seem all that bad. It was as if the person he met before wasn't even him. Jimin seemed so much more genuine and down to earth while out here, maybe being in the forest was exactly what they needed.
Thoreau ventured out into the forest to escape life and left everything he knew behind to live and be himself. Although this was just a class about trees, maybe the professor was trying to teach them something about life and it wasn't all about carbon footprints.
Yes, this means that Yifan had been trying to catch up on his readings. Did he like them? No, not one bit, but he was still determined to actually know what was going on in the class. That and he couldn't fall asleep. He never expected he'd be out here, stuck with a whole bunch of dudes in the middle of thousands of trees.
His thoughts changed when he had to spend the whole day with Jimin today as a part of their assigned task.
They were tasked with tidying up the cabin since no one had done that since they came here. Jimin started almost immediately with no complaint and Yifan went out to the shed to grab some brooms.
"Yifan-shi, where should I put this?" Jimin questions softly, holding up a pair of... Yifan yelps out, dropping the brooms instantly and runs over to Jimin to grab his underwear.
"Where did you even find this?" Yifan blushed and shoved it under his shirt, just for now so he could hide it. Jimin pointed at the floor of the bathroom and snickered. "I didn't take you as the tighty whities type."
Yifan blushed, even more, the tips of his ears slowly reddening, "I'm not!" He counters, "I just.. I just accidentally bought them and figured I can just use them here. Don't expose me like that!" He says, Jimin can't stop smiling and laughing.
"Hehe, I'm sorry." Jimin apologizes softly, but his tone suggests anything but that. Yifan couldn't help but laugh too. He was embarrassed, sure, but it was funny and he couldn't deny that. He and Jimin just ended up laughing for like 5 minutes before they started cleaning again.
While they were cleaning around the cabin, they chatted about random things in an attempt to learn about each other. "So, how long have you known Yoongi?" Jimin questions and Yifan stops sweeping for a moment and looks at the ceiling in thought. He doesn't think he's ever thought about it.
"Uh, wow. I think that this year marks our 7th year actually." Yifan speaks and starts to sweep again, Jimin sounds a quick 'Woah' and nods to himself as he continued cleaning.
Everything was quiet until Yifan asks him the same question, "How long have you known Yoongi?"
Jimin doesn't stop sweeping but he smiles softly when recalling the first day he noticed Yoongi. "I've seen him around school before this class, but this is the first time I've actually spoken to him so, about a month?"
Yifan notices the way Jimin smiles and how it doesn't leave his face, as if it was stamped on. He was curious, he couldn't help it, "Do you uh," he starts and Jimin looks up at him again, "Do you like Yoongi?"
It fell silent, the sound of sweeping had stopped. "He doesn't know, but..." Jimin walks forwards, nearing Yifan before he takes a seat on the sofa and places the broom on the ground. Yifan also joins him and places the broom down.
