NOTE: This is one of those chapters that I didn't plan out AT ALL and am just going to start typing. We'll see how that goes 🙃💛🦋.

Sarah didn't think much of Klaus approaching her until she noticed that deadly look on his face, which immediately had her raising a hand up with every intention to snap his neck again.

But before they had any chance of coming face to face, Freya was stepping in between Sarah and Klaus, shaking her head at her brother.

"Whatever you plan on doing, don't. It won't bring Cami back," Freya said.

Klaus looked down at his sister, over at Sarah, and eventually at Freya again. "I find it quite odd that Sarah just so happens to find any reason for her and Elijah to leave the compound, only for tragedy to strike while they're gone."

"You sound insane, Klaus. Do you seriously think I'd do anything to hurt Elijah's family?" Sarah questioned, the shock on her face speaking for itself.

"Yes," Klaus replies immediately.

"No," Freya interrupted. "Sarah has no reason to betray us, Klaus. Don't let your grief convince you otherwise. I have something to show you, something that might ease your mind."

It wasn't completely true, as Freya knew that there wasn't much that would rid Klaus of his paranoia, but she's leading him away from Sarah and off to another part of the compound soon enough.

Now that Sarah was alone, she was left with more time to think everything over. What if she did have something to do with Cami's death and hadn't even realized it? What if she would be responsible for the downfall of the Mikaelson family? Of Elijah, the man that she loved?

Sarah only saw one option left, and it was to disappear completely. At the very least, everyone would be safer. Or so she hoped. She didn't bother retrieving her things from Elijah's room or looking for him to say goodbye face to face, but she was sure to leave a note for him with Hayley's message. After all, a promise was a promise.

After grabbing her coat and exiting the compound, Sarah began the long walk back to her hotel, and once she was there she immediately began packing whatever could fit into her suitcase, only to be startled by a knock at the front door.

She immediately stopped moving, only for the sound of Elijah's voice on the other side of the door to call out her name. Sarah could feel her heart break right then and there.. God, all she wanted to do was stay...

"Go away, Elijah," Sarah called back as her eyes shut.

"Pardon me?" Elijah's ears had to have been playing tricks on him. Why was she pushing him away?

"Go.. away.."

"Sarah, I don't understand."

"GO AWAY."

It took everything that Elijah had to step away from the door, clearing his throat before he'd mutter a soft, "Goodnight, Sarah."

Sarah listened to the sounds of his footsteps until they'd disappeared completely, and only then would she allow herself to sob as she continued to pack.

"I'm sorry.. I'm so sorry, Elijah."

Sarah's stepping out of the room a bit later, eventually exiting the hotel with her suitcase at her side. She began walking in the direction of the bus station, up until she spotted Lucien's penthouse, her rage bubbling up inside of her. All of this was his fault. He'd ruined everything, and for what? Petty jealousies?
