REINA'S POV
I'm late. And it's not even like a little late, it's the kinda late where I should be running down the street like a madwoman. But I'm not. I should be. But my hair just wouldn't allow that to happen. Besides, I doubt Stefanie would mind if I was just a couple minutes late.
Or maybe she would.
She called me last night at like midnight and said I needed to go to her house first thing in the morning. Mind you, it was fucking midnight, I was asleep on my couch after consuming two and a half glasses of wine while watching reruns of New Girl, so you could imagine how panicked I was when the phone call came in. But Stef was relatively calm, which only stressed me out. Because who the hell calls at midnight and calmly request an impromptu hang out for the next day? Fucking psychos, that's who. I couldn't fall back asleep after that due to the speed of my heart, so thus began my unplanned New Girl binge.
And that's a very long-winded explanation as to why I'm late right now.
Because obviously, I did fall asleep. And obviously, I didn't set an alarm because only a degenerate would not somehow wake up before the 2pm call time Stef gave me. Guess who is considered a degenerate now? I woke up at 2pm and had I not lived a measly three blocks away from the girl, I would be very fucked.
So, that brings us to now, where I walk up the driveway to Stef's house without a single clue as to why I'm here. Well, I see Dylan's car is in the driveway, so it looks like I can cross girl's day off my list of possibilities; unless her boyfriend wanted to be an honorary girl squad member for the day, which I wouldn't be opposed to. I'll take any opportunity I'm given to emasculate to macho man Dylan claims himself to be.
I barely made it to the front door when it's yanked open, and I'm greeted by the sight of an irritated looking Stef. "You're late," she sighs, stepping back to let me step in. "I said 2, it's almost 3 now."
"Yeah, well, it's your fault I'm late," I mutter as I kick off my shoes by the door. "You called me at midnight and scared me half to death, I couldn't sleep again for a good few hours."
"That's partially my fault," I hear a male voice interject, and when I look up, Dylan is poking his head out from the kitchen. I crack a smile at the sight of the flower-printed apron hung around his neck, but I decide against commenting on the attire. The last thing I want is for him to take it off because I noticed, I've just gotta enjoy the view while I can. "I told her to call you because god knows she would have forgotten this morning. I didn't realize the time though, so my bad."
I roll my eyes, of course, neither of them noticed the time, match made in heaven these two. "Yeah, well fuck you both then," I scoff, moving past Dylan and into the kitchen. Much to my surprise, there's a platter with cupcakes on Stef's counter, and judging by the smell, there's probably a batch of cookies in the oven right now. "Apology accepted," I chirp out, snatching one of the pink frosted cupcakes from the platter and settling myself onto a stool at the island.
