~ All About You by Birdy ~

Dinner passed with stiff airs and the occasional clang of utensils. Alpha Grayson sat at one end of a long table while Jasper and I sat on the other end. No one else was in the room, but I was sure that fully armed guards stood right outside the door. Jasper gave me a tight smile from the other side of the table. I nodded in return. The silence was drawn out painfully. My hands felt clammy and my fork and knife threatened to slip. The food was far better than what I remembered, but my attention was solely fixed upon Alpha Grayson. I watched as he picked at his food. When he was younger, he hated tomatoes. He would always separate his food and then heap his unwanted food onto my plate. That was of course before my parents betrayed the pack. Alpha Grayson's eyes flickered over to me and narrowed. With a sneer, he stabbed the innocent tomato. Seeds squished out from where he punctured the skin with his fork as he popped it into his mouth without breaking eye contact. I bit the inside of my cheek to stop myself from reacting. Was I supposed to be afraid of this act or just find it entertaining? Grayson's actions were always childish but since becoming alpha, he tried to refine his movements. But this pettiness was something from a different era. An era when Grayson and I were children and were destined to be married.

When dinner ended, Alpha Grayson got up first. On his way out, he looked over his shoulder. "Breakfast will be served at 7:30 sharp." The door banged shut and Jasper and I were left alone in silence.

Jasper snorted, breaking the silence. "Grayson sure is like a rock. Soooo stern." Jasper wiggled her eyebrows while sitting in a 'dignified' position to imitate Alpha Grayson. My lips twitched up into a smirk. Jasper came around the table and gave me a side hug. "Let's go get some sleep," she said as she gently eased me out of the chair and led be back to our rooms. Just outside the two doors to separate bedrooms, Jasper gave me a look. I cocked my head to the side. She just nodded. Her lips formed a thin line as she pushed open her door. "See you tomorrow morning," she said kind of glumly before adding, "'7:30 sharp.'" She cast a smirk over he shoulder but just before the door banged shut behind her, her face fell flat. My heart lurched for the door by I stopped myself. I shook my head as I entered my own bedroom.

I flopped down on the twin sized bed. The crisp sheets felt wrong under my skin. My first instinct was to rip them off the bed and sleep on the floor, but I stopped myself. If I did that, I would be shaming myself and Jasper as well as the whole Blood Moon Pack. I would not let Alpha Grayson's mistreatment of me be the norm. I will not accept the ranking he gave me. Instead I ripped the sheets back and got into bed. I curled up in a ball, suddenly realizing how big the bed felt. I wrapped my arms around my legs. The whole day seemed to be a blur. Two things I leached today were: 1) There were no findings under the name "Molly" in the records. 2) Alpha Grayson hasn't changed at all. Both I wasn't sure how to feel about. Disappointment? Apprehension? Or maybe happy or even grateful? Nothing had changed, not yet at least. Everything was the same. I was back at the pack house but now I'm treated well, or at least better than before. It was almost like old times. If I closed my eyes right now, I could pretend I was a child. Back when my parents were alive. Back when Alpha Grayson and I were friends. But my brain refused to let me heart indulge in that fantasy.

I could not sleep that night. When the birds chirped and the sun rose, my eyes had not even close for a second.
