There I was again. Sitting on the dirty mattress in the basement of that horrible house. They had just unchained me from the wall after using me again. They had also carved the moon back into my arm.
I kept hearing Nate in my head, begging me to respond and tell him where I was. I tried blocking him out, but I just couldn't. I wanted to believe the man was lying. I also couldn't tell him. I didn't want anyone hurt.
"Zack and Ash came back." He said, "They are fine, if that's what you're worried about."
I wondered if they told him what happened to them. Then I thought maybe they were threatened and told not to say anything. I kept arguing with myself whether them keeping silent was protecting me, or themselves. The men knew how to get to me.
I rested my head down and started crying. I wanted to just die there. To be done with everything I've gone through. Even that thought seemed selfish. I was never supposed to get what I wanted.
I thought about the last few weeks and how happy I was becoming. I thought about the life I could have had with Nate. Eventually having pups of our own and watching them grow up with a happier life than I had.
"Please, Delilah..." Nate inturrupted my thoughts, "I love you. Please tell me where you are."
My crying became uncontrollable, to the point where one of the men came back downstairs. He grabbed my neck and started choking me. He growled so many threats and slapped me. Right as I was about to pass out, he released my neck and stormed back upstairs.
I panted and held my neck. The crying had stopped, but I felt much worse. I held my head and sat back up.
"Nate..." I already regretted bringing him into this, "They took me again..."
"What?" He growled, "Where? I swear I'll kill them all myself!"
"Don't..." I begged, "You'll get yourself killed."
"Where are you?" He demanded, "I'll bring backup, just tell me where!"
"Do you... remember where you found me before?"
"Yes." He replied.
"That direction from the pack." I hated putting him in danger, "That's all I really know."
"I'm on it!" He growled, "I'm coming, Delilah."
I stood up and looked out through the barred off window. I hoped I didn't make a mistake. I wished I could just wake up in Nate's house and have all this be a dream.
Minutes later, I heard paws pounding on the fround. It sounded like about seven or eight wolves. I hoped they could pick up my scent so I wouldn't have to call out.
Soon enough, I heard the men shout angrily at them and shift to their wolf forms. Then all I heard was screeching as the battle started. What took minutes felt like hours as I stood there, helpless, waiting for my savior.
The battle seemed to end and the basement door flew open. Standing there, only wearing shorts after just shifting, was Nate. He had a long gash on his arm, but other than that, he looked fine.
"Are you okay?" He asked, rushing over to me.
"I am now." I wrapped my arms around him, being careful to avoid his arm.
He buried his face in my hair, "Let's go home."
