Chapter 2

I woke up my eyes as I looked around the small room. Gagged by a small tied rope and unable to move my hands and feet. I scanned to find Chizuru waking up alongside me. Her eyes were strike with alarm when we saw an opening door to find a middle aged man with a kindly warm expression on his face.

He tended to Chizuru letting out a small tch at a "Souji" for being so tieing so tight. He tended to me next. He said his name was Genzaburou Inoue and we were in the. He was quite careful in handling and told us we were in the shinsegumi headquarters. The white wolves as they call him. I've hear many stories about the shinsegumi but never thought I'd be held captive by them atleast of all with my sister by my side.

It seemed like a meeting and when we entered the room they all turned to us

"Good morning." he turned to my sister. " Especially you you have the mark of the tatami mat on your face." couldn't help bit curl my lips into a small smile as not even this situation Chizuru is always so cute. But it quickly ebbed away as the leader introduced himself. I straightend my back and was determined not to show to much fear to these people.

A man wearing glasses gave us the all clear and we sat neclxt to each other facing.

"i am Asami Kondou leader of the shinsegumi. This is Sanan kun is the deputy commanda and
Toshi- Toshizaro Hijika is vice commanda."

"why are you telling them all about us."
The commander wore a look of slight embarrassment on his face as the others jeered in his expense. This would be a fun place if they weren't debating whether we would get to live or not.

"Saito Kun would you care to recount on what happened last night." he turned toward the mysterious man with dark hair.

"yesterday we had met with some rouge samurai there was a fight but it was quickly settled these people had witnessed this ecoumter"

Chizuru had perked up at the accusation in a desperate bid for our lives."we didn't see anything."

"Oh really." a condenceing lilt was woven in his voice as the younger one asked.
"Souji kun told us that it looked like you were aiding those guys."

"That's not true we were trying to flee from the rouge samura when the shinsegumi member stepped in."

"So you got a good look as the soldiers were killing those samurai." Chizuru was at a lost for words.

A flare of anger surged inside of me. The one of with the Amber eyes fell from Chizuru to me his lips formed into a small smirk." And how about you there seems to be something you want to say from the white in your knuckles." I gave a futile attempt and trying to compose myself before event trying to speak.

"I was thinking about how yesterday were both trying to flee for our lives just for us to be held captive by the white wolves of Toshu for simply being in the wrong place in the wrong time." i said cooly.

"Just get a blade and this whole mess would be cleared up." the green eyes one chimed.

They grabbed Chizuru and forcibly turned her out. And the red haired one came to me. I shrugged him off. "No need to use force I have no choice in the matter anyways."

A smirk." whatever you say makes my job easier."

"your friend really has his heart set on killing us doesn't he." I commented.

I looked slightly behind me to fin him watching my back. He didn't answer me and he looked down at me with cool ember eyes.

"Your killing us aren't you." I asked him.

He gave me a slight nod and ushered me inside to find a shaken Chizuru. " I wouldn't rule it out if I were you."

A distraught Chizuru looked at me and crawled on my lap as we awaited even just a chance of escape.

The silence was deafening I was we aited for our execution. I looked at her and said we need to leave I tried to stop and she started to look around the compound and all I could do was to follow her. We both understood that either way our situation was grave.

We ran I was further olonf when I saw Hijikata San effortlessly hold Chizuru in his hand. " I thought I told you that if you try to escape if cut you down." Id stopped à fear brimming inside me as he escorted the both of us back into their meeting room.

Where the men sat there ready to hear our story. We told the story of how the doctor,how we had received letters from him almost everyday then suddenly they stopped ," so we both set off together to go and find him"

"That explains why two young ladies such as yourselves would dress up as men." Hijikata San Nonchalantly added.

Chizuru nodded in response and the men were stricken with shock.

"she's obviously a girl wouldn't you say."

"yeah but still you got no proof."

"why not just strip them and see."

I felt myself start to shake to find Chizuru's hand on my knee. "Swear to God I don't care if they touch you."

"Please Y/n don't cause too much trouble."

I rolled my eyes and clenched my jaw staring daggers at the one with ember coloured eyes as he smirked at me.

" You. You're name is Yukimura as in Kondou Yukimura." Chizuru nodded at him. "What exactly do you know about him.

We were both filled with confusion." do not play dumb."

" There was a fire at his practice a few months ago and no one has heard from him." what

" Do not worry no body was found so we have reason to believe that he may still be alive."

"we are in the process of tracking him ourselves you may stay under our protection if you forget about last night"

"Don't worry we'll track him down."

"I guess were gonna have to be more cordial."

"But still since we are warriors girls at the headquarters could cause and uproar."

"Then we should make them someone's servant Kondou San or Sanan San."

"No Hijikata San you proposed it you should be the one to take care of one of them." he grit his teeth and expected Chizuru obviously annoyed.

"It's only fitting our gracious commander take the other one."

Kondou San cleared his throat as to get attention. " So it is decided.

We returned to our room we held our hands looking at each other.

"We still got echother Ruru Chan"
She smiled at me and we decided to sleep like that our hands clinging to each other for the tiniest bit of support.
