"He's so cute!" In an instant my face was cupped between the hands of a woman with green hair. "Hisashi, is he why you couldn't come with us to the doctors appointment last month?"
Sensei nodded. "I've been working with him the last five years to help him control his quirk. It got out of hand, and I apologize for not being here."
I stared at my feet, guilt coursing through my system. Sensei missed something important because of me. I flinched when Sensei placed a hand on my shoulder. A slap never came and he guided me to the couch.
"So how's Izuku?" he asked.
The woman sighed. "As well as you'd expect. He's-"
"I'm home!" Feet hit the floor and a five year old with green hair and bright green eyes rushed into the living room. "Dad!" He jumped ontop of Sensei and hugged him.
"Hi, Izuku. I brought you a present." Sensei pulled a small book from his pocket.
"Oh! That's the new hero book. Thank you!" Izuku's face lit in a wide grin. "This is so -who are you?" His wide eyes fixated on me. Hatred bubbled within me. Sensei's kid loves heroes? With everything-
"This is Tenko. He's your new brother," the woman said.
"Inko-"
"Hisashi, you told me what happened to his family and I am not letting this poor boy go through life without a family."
Sensei sighed and rubbed his eyes. "Nothing I say is going to change your mind is it?"
Inko smiled and kissed Sensei. I raised an eyebrow. What's so special about this woman? "No. Now I'm going to get started on dinner. Tenko, dear, what do you want to eat?"
"Anything is okay. I'm not picky," I said, aware of Izuku's eyes on me.
"What's your Quirk?" He blurted. My heart skipped a beat and I looked at Sensei for help. I expected him to tell him not to blurt out questions or something not what he said.
"Tenko's quirk is Decay. Anything he touches with five fingers is destroyed."
Here it comes, I braced myself. Izuku is going to say it's a villians quirk, that I should die. Even if I hated heroes, being told I could only be a villain hurt.
"That's so cool! Do you need to focus to use your quirk or is it automatically activated? How big of a thing can you decay? Does it have to be organic material or can you destroy metal and stuff like that? Can you use it on liquids or does it have to be a solid? I'd assume it would have to be a solid since you need the five points of contact but how does your quirk consider something one object or multiple because that would make a big difference. And what happens to the stuff you decay? Does it turn into dust or just disappear? I need to get a new notebook, I'll be right back!"
I blinked. Sensei laughed. "Izuku loves quirks. Expect a lot more questions out of him while you're here."
"An analysis quirk?"
Sensei shook his head. "Quirkless. Not that I'm surprised. I was the first in my family to manifest one." His throat glowed and a short burst of flame burst from his lips. Soon enough Izuku burst back into the room with a notebook and an All Might blanket.
He plopped next to me and tossed the blanket so it was around my shoulders as well as his. "If you're going to be my brother, then are you going to be a Midoriya? Because then I could put some more on Mom and Dad's quirks in this one."
"Midoriya Tenko sounds nice, doesn't it?" Sensei ruffled my hair. "I'll leave it up to you, but you can always call me Dad if you want to. Well, maybe not around the others at work. Wouldn't want them getting jealous."
"Uh, sure?" I said. Izuku's hand moved faster than I could see, writing out my name and quirk, along with applications. "Did you think of this off the top of your head?"
Izuku nodded. "Kacchan and I want to be heroes, so I like looking at the quirks heroes have. Of course I have an entry on Kacchan in a different notebook if you want to look at it. How old are you?"
"Ten."
Izuku nodded. "So that would give you about five years to figure out how to control it. Given the amount Kacchan has with his even though he hasn't even had-" he started mumbling. I stared. He's smart. If he's figuring this out at five years old, then what's he going to be like at my age?
"What's your mom's quirk?" I asked.
His eyes lit up. "Her quirk is super cool. It's called Attraction and she can pull small objects towards her. It's stronger and faster the smaller the object is relative to her. Dad's is Fire Breath, it's like the way a guy in a pre-quirk cartoon could do it." So that must be what Sensei told him. "Kacchan has a super cool quirk too! He sweats nitroglycerin from his palms and he can cause it explode."
I looked at Sensei and raised an eyebrow.
"He doesn't have a quirk." Sensei reaffirmed. The tone in his voice supplied, I checked. I nodded and looked back at Izuku. The light seemed to have left his eyes and stared at his notebook.
"You okay, Izuku?" I asked.
"Can I still be a hero if I don't have a quirk?"
"Why do you want to be a hero?"
"Because I want to help people. Like All Might. He always saves the day." Izuku rubbed at his eyes, wiping away tears. "A lot of people get hurt and heroes can't help all of them, but I want to make that number as small as possible."
"And I'm sure you will." Sensei smiled at Izuku. "I'll support you one hundred percent. Now go help your mother in the kitchen so I can get some things sorted out with Tenko." Sensei waited until Izuku was gone to talk to me, this time in a whisper. "He believes I work for an organization that specializes in helping those with dangerous quirks and that I work for a support company on the side. Inko knows who I am. She used to work for one of my associates who didn't treat her well. I may be a villain but leaving someone in that situation would be inhumane. We'll be staying here for the next couple months and then I'll leave it up to you on whether or not you want to stay while I go 'overseas'."
Louder he added. "You can sleep on the couch until we get a bed for you in Izuku's room. I'm going to warn you my son is a bit of an All Might fan. Can't blame him, he's a pretty popular hero, even if he interferes with the company's profits. So many heroes try to be like him and avoid support gear."
"Is it really okay for me to stay here, Sensei?"
"I need someone to watch over Izuku. If one of my enemies finds out about him, he doesn't have a quirk to defend himself. I want you to watch over him."
"I will not disappoint you, Sensei."
Book book book
Why do I make so many I don't know. This is just me having fun so it might variate from canon since I dont have access to the show and I want to get FMA: Brotherhood first
