Fire flared from between two buildings, and I frowned. "Kurogiri?"
"Yes, Tomura?"
"Send me over there." I pointed. Neon yellow eyes narrowed, and his shoulders pulled higher around his neck brace. "I can handle myself. That looks--" Ice shot up. "That's definitely Endeavor's brat. And as far as I know, using your quirk without a license is illegal." A grin spread across my face, and I winced as it pulled at my lips. They were already bleeding.
A dark portal appeared and I stepped through, reappearing at the edges to the alley, behind the legacy kids and a downed hero.
And my brother.
I could only watch as he and his friends fought against Stain. The shadows protected me from view, so hopefully none of them had any chance of seeing me repeatedly hitting the base of my palm against my forehead. I shouldn't be watching this. That was something I knew. Observing the Noumu was a far more important task for the League. But protecting Izuku is my first priority.
Letting him get hurt, well, more than his quirk seems to hurt him, would spell my death warrant, and I didn't think Mom would be all too interested in protecting me if I let something bad happen to the greenbean. Burning trails scraped across the back of my neck. Green sparks flew around Izuku as he moved, and it didn't look like he was sporting any broken bones. Aside from his twisted and bent fingers, it looked like everything was cuts and bruises.
The cuts weren't the best when dealing with Stain though.
If I had to, I'd intervene.
I hissed as Izuku narrowly avoided a blade. Good thing he's not breaking his legs. He must've figured out how to regulate his quirk. Part of me wished I wasn't figuring this out through watching him fight a guy who is more than willing to kill kids.
Pot calling the kettle black perhaps, but at least I called myself a villain. He doesn't see himself as that, even though every bit of the law does. Murder for a purpose is just the same as wanton destruction in their eyes. And in this case, it should be the same in Stain's. Even I know that the stuff I'm doing is super fucked up, but at least I'll admit to that. I had to still myself, keep myself from wrapping my hand around Stain. If it was just Izuku, I'd do it.
If it came down to it, I still would.
But until then, it was too risky. Not only for me, but for him. Dad is sure that the rat is all set up in the proper maze, but he's been wrong before. Like when he thought his brother was quirkless. When he said Izuku was quirkless. The pieces fell together nicely for what could be the cause, but neither of us wanted it to be the case. Much better to assume he got one a few random fused quirks from Dad and Dad couldn't sense them because Izuku is kin. It was better than him receiving a quirk known to lower the lifespans of its users.
....
If he survives this fight, I am murdering him.
There's no heroes here, none except Native who's, you know, currently bleeding out and paralyzed on the ground. So no heroes that counted, and only children. Which means my brother, my little sprout of a brother who is capable at beating pretty much everyone I know at strategizing, came rushing into this blind. He didn't tell anyone he was going to go hunt down a serial killer who routinely kills heroes. So yeah, maybe I was a bit miffed. And maybe my annoyance skyrocketed when he figured out Stain's quirk.
How can someone so smart, be such an idiot?
Soon I found myself back on the roof. Kurogiri said nothing, so I stared out over the destruction. Fire rages, and screams tore through the air. A blur darted between building, bouncing off of walls, so, so similar to how Izuku was.
I wonder if he'd tell me who he interned with?
Doubtful. I'm a villain, and if I get caught-- He might be a good liar, but nothing can beat a truth quirk. Except maybe a lying quirk or a quirk that passively negated detector quirks. I sighed and shoved my hands into my pockets. Safer not for me to know, I decided. Dad could figure it out if I asked. Or I could sneak home and grab a few of Izuku's notebooks, but that ran the risk of Mom killing me for everything.
She wouldn't kill me. Ground me, yes. Maybe even lock me in the family vault.
A shout and more screams. My attention darted to the source. The winged Noumu, and I really hated I knew who it was, flew up, claws speared into a body. I growled. The damned doctor said they wouldn't hurt him.
"Kurogiri, get Izuku."
"Tomura--"
"Do you want to get decayed?" I bit out. "It'd be better than whatever Sensei would have in store for you."
"I believe Stain has the matter handled."
I closed my eyes and exhaled. "Remind me to ask Sensei if Izuku has a danger attraction quirk. Or just something that makes him super unlucky." Or lucky really. Why couldn't it be the opposite? A danger attraction quirk that allows him to escape from lethal damage?
The doctor may have that in the form of his usefulness, but really, it would explain things with Izuku so much.
In case you were wondering, I've been editing this and posting it on Ao3 which is why this update took a while. The version up there also has bonus scenes so uh
See yah
