"Twenty-five seconds, nineteen, seventeen-" I let the capture weapon pull me forward. Eraserhead tried to elbow me in the gut, but I caught his elbow. "It's hard to see when you're moving around," I said, staring at Eraserhead. "But your hair shows when you're using your quirk." A smile spread across my face. "It's getting shorter and shorter each time you use it." I watched him struggle to keep his eyes open. His sleeve disintegrated under my touch and then his elbow below.
"Eraserhead!"
Green eyes stared at me in shock, and I stared back in shock. I shoved the hero away from me and backed up.
"I am so fucking dead," I mumbled, breaking character. "No, no, no! You weren't supposed to interfere! Nomu, catch the green one." It can't hurt him, but it can catch him. That's all I need. Well, that and yelling at him because why the hell is my quirkless little brother in a hero course? No. How the hell is my quirkless brother in the hero course in UA, the toughest hero school in the country?
Nomu went off without question, lunging after Izuku. He dodged a couple times, staring at me. I tilted my head the side. Run. Trust me.
Thankfully, Izuku managed to inherit Mom's ability to understand my vague gestures and he ran. He wasn't going to outrun Nomu, but I wouldn't have to worry about him getting caught in the crossfire for the time being.
My fight with Eraserhead continued. I dodged blows and the scarf, managing to land my fingers on the man's goggles. The strap disintegrated and he scowled down at them, like they had broken free of his face on their own volition. In the brief moment, entirely too brief for my liking, I scooped dirt up and threw it in his eyes. It wasn't exactly sand, but it was an attack.
"Kurogiri, take me to the Nomu," I said as he appeared beside me. "Keep Eraserhead occupied. Infinite fall or something." I waved my hand and stepped through a portal. I emerged next to the Nomu, who gently cradled Izuku.
"Do you want to explain what's going on?" Izuku said, sitting up slightly. "Why the hell are you with villains?"
"Uh, green bean? Why the hell are you in a hero course?"
He frowned. "I told you I got into UA."
"I thought you meant General Studies! How did you get in here without a quirk? You made me apply, so I know how fucking biased the entrance exam is."
Green lightning crackled around his body, with smaller amounts of red. "I, uh, I developed a quirk during the exam. Something about the training I did with All Might- why the fuck are you trying to kill him anyway- and the sheer terror at someone nearly getting crushed in front of me, made the dormant quirk activate. I don't really get how, it would have to be an extreme mutation of Mom's and Dad's, but maybe Dad had some sort of superpower quirk in his family? It hurts a lot, usually breaks my bones, but if that's what it takes to be a hero I'll do it." He clenched his hands into fists, a determined look on his face.
I groaned. "Now I can't kill the guy. He's gonna be pissed, you know that?"
" Who wants All Might dead? Does Mom know about this?"
Shit.
I shook my head rapidly, words leaving my mouth faster than I could process. All I knew was I was begging him not to tell Mom. I don't know if the lecture or the disappointed look would be worse and I didn't want to find out. No one wanted to find that out.
Not when your adopted mom was the sweetest and most terrifying person on the planet.
"Tenko, breathe," Izuku said, sliding effortlessly out of the Nomu's grip. He grabbed my wrists, a habit formed the first time I managed to decay my gloves-- and half of a bookshelf.
"Izu, listen to me. Stay here. No matter what you hear, I need you to stay right here and don't do anything stupid. All the villains have orders not to harm you, though I'm guessing by that arm of yours someone did."
Izuku smiled sheepishly. "Actually, that was from me. The quirk has a lot of backlash. It's kinda shattered."
"Then why the fuck are you still moving it?!" Before he could answer, a portal appeared under my feet and took me back to Kurogiri. I watched Nomu toss Eraserhead around like a doll. "What did you want to tell me earlier?" I was so going to need to drink three cups of tea after this, my throat burned with every word.
"Ah yes, I was able to disable Thirteen, but one of the students escaped. Help should arrive at any-"
"I AM HERE!"
I groaned and scratched the back of my neck. "If you weren't our ride out of here, I'd kill you. But we might as well see how our brawler deals against the final boss. Or would he be a tank?" I started mumbling to myself about the difference between the two of them because yes, Nomu could deliver insanely powerful blows, it could also absorb them with no issues. Of course, it also had a heavy regeneration quirk, one which would be much more useful in Izuku given his miraculous appearance of a quirk which was capable of shattering his bones. Maybe I should talk to Dad about that. Kurogiri is proof that he's mastered the art of giving quirks, having left much of the previous intact compared the Nomu currently attacking All Might.
While I was deep in my thoughts, pain flooded my system. Bullets. I didn't even get a chance to see what was going on. Kurogiri warped me back to base, alone.
