Run like hell my dear,
From anyone likely
To put a sharp knife
Into the scared, tender vision
Of your beautiful heart

As she looked at the trees rushing by, she couldn't stomach the feeling of unrest and disbelief in the pit of her stomach; she had done it. Finally.
Now she was free.
From whatever games they were playing with each other.
She shuddered as she thought about the events of the last two days...

Two days earlier:
She had made it to Melissa's house. She was almost caught but managed to make an excuse of going to market with Melike (who was supposed to come pick her in about 30 minutes). Melissa had messaged her earlier that she had found some information on Miran and his family.

"Okay so I managed to dig out some information. I found no person with the name of Miran Aksoy. Miran Aslanbey, however, I found quite a bit on."
"Son of Mehmed and Dilsah Aslanbey, Parents passed away when he was about 3 years old. Since then has been raised by his grandmother Azize Aslanbey."
"That must be the lady with the scarf" Reyyan mused.
"Here is where it gets interesting" Melissa continued, "Apparently Azize Aslanbey tried to accuse the Sadoglus for her son and daughter-in-law's murder, but the police closed the case on grounds of insufficient evidence."
This shocked Reyyan. Murder?
"Who did they accuse Melissa?" Reyyan asked, to which Melissa pressed her lips and refused to look her in the eye.
"Do you really want to know?"
"Yes! I need to know whose crime I was going to be punished for!"
"Hazar Sadoglu."
And just like that, Reyyan's heart stilled.

No! That can't be! My father can't be a murderer! Reyyan screamed internally. Reyyan refused to believe that her father was capable of something so gruesome. No! That Azize lady was lying! She had to be!
"Reyyan! Hey! Calm down. That lady probably might have some family history with you and maybe she was trying to shame your family. Nothing that I haven't seen before." Melissa reasoned, "These are just police records after all. We don't know the real story."
"We don't have the time. I need to get out of here before the wedding day or I might never live to find out." Reyyan sighed. This had to wait. To find the truth. She first needed to get out of here.
"Fine. What is your plan?"
"I just need you to book me a plane ticket to Adana and let me stay in your house in a while. I will figure out the rest later."
"Girl are you insane? If you travel by plane or any public transport, your family will be able to track you. If you can wait one day, I will take you to Adana myself in my car."
"In car, but that would take hours Melissa! I can't ask you to do that!"
"Nonsense! If you are going to stay in my house, your safety is my responsibility. Besides, no one knows I'm here, besides Anne of course, so no one would suspect you are with me."
"Okay fine. I will go with you." "Good."

Last night:

As she pulled her stash of savings from under the bed, Reyyan mulled over whether she should leave some sort of note. Maybe if she explained why she left, her family would look into it, and not send a hunting party after her, but her instinct told her that leaving a note was not going to make a difference; her grandfather was not the understanding type.
So, she just wrote this and left it on her table:

'I will not be an instrument for your revenge Miran'.

This hopefully might drive them to investigate Miran and find the truth for themselves. Hope was all she had for now.
She had prepared a small bag, nothing too noticeable. Just a few clothes and other important documents, and the clothes on her back.
Melissa had messaged her earlier that she would wait for her at midnight, when everyone would be hopefully sleeping. As she sneaked out of her room, Reyyan's heart was beating loudly against her ribcage. What if she was caught? Oh, Allah no! Not now!
Calm down Reyyan! she told herself.
This is just like when you sneaked out with Mavi.
No one will see.
You will get out of here alive.
You will. You have to.

She quickly spotted Melissa's car and walked towards it.
"Thank god you are here! What took you so long?"
"Nothing. Just drive Melissa! I'm scared...."
"Okay here goes nothing." And with that she set out on her journey to freedom.

Melissa stopped the car at a petrol station a few minutes outside the city.
"Give me your simcard."
"Huh?"
"Your simcard Reyyan. It's the first thing the police will use to track you."
Reyyan handed her the simcard, and she flushed it down the toilet.
"Great, this should throw them off your scent for a while."
Reyyan was feeling increasingly thankful for this wild and wonderful best friend of hers by the minute.
They were going to make it out of this, she assured herself.

Present Time:

"We are home!" Melissa cheered in a tired voice, "It's a bit dingy, but its home."
"No, it's beautiful and cosy" Reyyan said, as she took in the numerous plants littered across the balcony, the cosy couches with fluffy throws, and quite a lot of snack wrappers just lying around, "But it does need a good cleaning though" Reyyan laughed.

"First anne now you" Melissa huffed, "Anyways, we have to get your mobile problem sorted first, I can't have you sitting here with no way to contact me" ...

Back at Saduglu mansion:

"Reyyan! Reyyan!" Zehra came in the room, only to find it empty, and a note on the table. All colour left her face as she read it.
"I need to find Hazar Bey." Zehra panicked and ran out.
