Tarran's P.O.V. (AGE 17)

I sat up from my mattress and looked around. My small bell based alarm system had just been tripped by something. I rolled my eyes. It was probably just an animal but I left to make sure that it was an animal and not some sort of villain.

I slowly got up and climbed down the walls to the first floor. I froze immediately when I saw that it was an explorer. They hadn't been coming since someone posted a video that theorized a quirk user was "haunting" the building.

I sighed and hid any sign of my living there in a blanket of shadow. Slowly, I made my way to the closest wall and crouched to hide a little better.

"Hello," their voice echoed throughout my building, bouncing off the walls and entering my ears. They kept this up until they thought no one would answer them. I hid from their flashlight beam and watched them sweep throughout the floor before going up the ladder to the second floor.

I followed them up carefully and watched as they started to talk to a camera. I watched carefully and realized that it was a guy with some sort of arm mutation quirk.

"Alright guys," he said, "This floor is rumored to be the most haunted place in this warehouse. Some people also think that this place is only haunted because of an illegal quirk user. Maybe it's his ghost or it could just be some homeless man trying to protect this awesome structure."

I smirked. The thought of me being an unshaved homeless man was the most ridiculous theory I had heard in my years of living here. I lifted a can and threw it across the room.

The guy flinched and whipped around to look where the can landed. Now that I've got him scared, he'll believe anything that happens. I made a shadow creep up behind him and tried to solidify it. It slipped into his shadow a bit but tapped him on the shoulder.

He flinched towards the shoulder I touched and scrambled back from the spot he was sitting before.

"Oh my gosh! Guys something just touched my shoulder. Oh that's creepy. Man this place is really creeping me out! I'm going to go up to the third floor and then get the *beep* out." (Author: NO SWEARING ON MY MINECRAFT SERVER!!!)

I chuckled silently and followed him to the destroyed stairway for the third floor. He quickly found my ladder and climbed up carefully. I climbed up the walls and found him rummaging through some things.

I panicked a little when I realized it was the backpack my mother had left for me when I was abandoned. I threw another can to distract him but as soon as he calmed down he kept rummaging through the bag.

Slowly, I got angrier and more anxious he would find something. I called shadows from around the room and shoved him back from the backpack. He thrashed around and hit the wall with a sickening thud.

He grabbed his head and screamed when he realized there was some blood coming from it. I winced and used the shadows to put him on the second floor. Then I yelled, so my voice would echo, to get out as quickly as he could.

He ran to the ladder and looked back at me. I stood my ground and watched him clamber down the ladder. He turned on his camera and yelled about how a quirk user had just tried to kill him. I froze when he mentioned the cops and immediately rushed to pack my things.

If the authorities got me, not only would I be sent into the foster system, I would probably get sent to jail. I shoved any books or clothes I could find into a large scuba bag. I also arranged any of my personal belongings into the bag.

I gathered all the things from my past into the one backpack. I rubbed my thumb over a picture my mother left me. It was my father, her, and me back in America.
