Niko Tokita has always considered himself a patient person.

Of course he still had his limits and when someone really started to get on his nerves or pushed his buttons, he got angry just like everybody else.

As he grew older, his image as a composed man only strengthened, not only in his opinion, but also according to the people who knew him personally and who were usually around him.

However, when one morning he found himself inside a peculiar orphanage to discuss obtaining custody of a certain green-haired cinnamon roll, he began to seriously doubt the image he had built for himself over the years.

After explaining the circumstances in which Niko met Izuku, the man insisted on obtaining custody on the child as soon as possible and getting the paperwork out of the way (why always the paperwork...?). The staff at the reception escorted him to the matron's office, where he listened to the utterly childish and pathetic justifications for the treatment that Izuku underwent inside the orphanage and why they didn't even bothered searching for him or notify the authorities about his disappearance.

And, hoo boy, he had to restrain himself from grinding every single bone within the body of this harpy into dust.

After a few minutes of ranting, she finally addressed the reason why Niko was in front of her.

"And are you absolutely certain you want to adopt him? Izuku Midoriya? I mean, he's Quirkle-"

"Yes, I'm sure. And frankly I don't see how the fact that he is Quirkless should deter me from wanting to adopt him and take him away from this dump which you call an 'orphanage' to give him a better life, ma'am."

Niko replied, perhaps a little too venomously, given the frightened reaction of the woman in front of him.

She gulped nervously before answering him.

"I-I m-m-mean... I find it weird... When parents come to visit us to adopt a child and they learn of Midoriya's Quirklessness, well... They'd ask to see another child, maybe even one with weak or useless Quir-"

"All this, if anything, just makes me want me to adopt Izuku faster."

"Tokita-san, I'm just tryin-"

"Listen, ma'am."

The matron stopped immediately as she swore that she felt the temperature of the room plummet.

And the glare that Niko gave her... well...

If looks could pierce, the woman would be a colander now.

"You can try going around it as much as you want, but my answer will not change. Yes. I intend to adopt Izuku Midoriya. The Quirkless kid who is currently in your custody. The same kid who was forced to flee because of your negligence and incompetence. So please, ma'am, do your fucking job and give me those papers and stop wasting my time. Unlike you, I'm a law abiding citizen with work to do and a business to run. And honestly I don't understand why you're so reluctant about me adopting Izuku. You don't want him here. He doesn't want to be here. So let him go with someone who actually cares about his well-being. Ma'am."

The matron shivered and opened a drawer in her desk, pulling out a small stack of papers, which she slid across the table with trembling hands. She began to falter under Niko's gaze.
