Elliott Meets World (Book One)

7- Art Exhibit

At the Art Exhibit, Maya stands next to her work hat shows the Nighthawk Diner, and her mother, but only half of her was shown. Other parents walk by and look at the painting, they give Maya thumbs up, before walking off.

Elliott walks over to Maya with Riley, Farkle, Mason, and Lucas following close behind. He knows Maya was a great artist and wanted to supposes her, by being there.

"So, how's it going?" Elliott asked curious, hoping that it was going well, as he glanced around for her mother.

"It's going fine," Maya smiled.

Elliott takes a look at Maya's work and sees the Nighthawk Diner, and lady but he only saw half of her.

"What does your mom think?" Riley asked with hope that she came. Maya gave a confused look. "She never showed up?"

"It's just you guys," Maya mentioned, gesturing to them.

"Are you telling me your mom never showed up?" Riley said in disbelief and confusion.

Maya shakes her head, " No. But of course you did." She looks at Cory and Topanga as they walked over.

"Hey, Maya. Wow, you really have some talent. Look at that place," Topanga pointed at Maya's drawing.

"I bet it's got great mashed potatoes," Cory pointed out.

"Look at that lady, why can you only see half of her?" Farkle questioned. Lucas wraps Farkle's mouth with his forearms from behind. "Oh..." Farkle muffles in Lucas' arms.

Riley leaves unexpectedly.

While Riley was gone, the art exhibit was slowly started to end and people were started to leave.

Elliott didn't know if Riley was going to get Katy to show up or not but he knew he needed to stay with Maya either way.

"Do you think your mom will show?" Elliott asked Maya trying to start conversation because of the weird silence.

"No. She won't. And I'm fine with that," Maya responded.

"Are you sure you'll be fine?" Elliott asked concerned.

Maya let out a small laugh. Elliott gave a confused look. "You're cute when you're worried about me. But seriously, you don't have to worry about me, Matthews."

Elliott noticed Cory and Topanga waiting as the four of them were the only ones left in the room. Riley hadn't showed up yet.

"Hey, mom, dad. You don't have to wait. I'll stay here with Maya until Riley comes back with or without Katy," Elliott offered.

"Are you sure, Elliott?" Cory asked.

"We don't mind waiting," Topanga added. Elliott glanced at Maya then back at his parents.

"Yeah, I'm sure," Elliott nodded.

Cory and Topanga nodded with a smile. They left but waited in the hallway instead of completely leaving.

"Uh - you're a really great artist, Maya," Elliott mentioned. He observed Maya's painting but kept glancing at Maya without even realizing that he is.

"Thanks... Mr. Boing," Maya trailed off then smiled.

Elliott let out a small chuckle, "Mr. Boing - huh. Is that my new nickname now or something?"

"That is correct Mr. Boing," Maya smiled.

"That's cute," Elliott said without realizing it. As he continued to stare at Maya her smile grew.

"Keep looking at me," Maya smiled as she took a step closer to Elliott. He didn't understand why he actually kept staring at her.

Just as Elliott starts to slowly lean in to kiss her, he saw Riley about to enter the room and quickly backs away from Maya.

Maya stops there stunned at what just almost happened and was also upset because nothing did happen. But she had change her facial expression when Riley walked over.
