Madeline's Crazy Life

Chapter 3

"Dammit Maddie, Wake up we're gonna be late to school!" Sebastian screamed at me from outside my door. Jumping up out of bed I look at my phone to see it reads 7:30 leaving me 20 minutes to get to school. Racing around my room I quickly get dressed in some sweatpants and a t shirt. Throwing my hair up in a messy bun, I run down stairs grabbing a pop tart for breakfast.

"I'm ready." I tell Sebastian breathless from all the running around.

"Finally, let's go.' Sebastian growls at me from the front door.

Racing to my locker as soon as we get to school, I see Paul standing waiting for someone.

"Hey Maddie, You're late." Paul teases

"I know, I ended up over sleeping." I laugh back to him.

"Couldn't stop dreaming of me could you?" Paul says as he pulls my hair out of the bun.

"Hey why did you do that?" I say trying to get my hair band back.

" I love your hair down so leave it down for me,"Paul says seriously.

Blushing I nod my head, not knowing what to say. Closing my locker, I look up at Paul as he stares at me. I start fidgeting with my books not wanting to leave.

" Who were you waiting for?" I ask Paul as we start to walk to our classes.

"Oh just someone," he says as he stops walking.

Looking back confused I ask, 'What's wrong?' walking back to where he is still standing.

"Maddie would you like to," Paul says before he gets interrupted by the bell for first Period.

"Crap, I'm late." I say rushing off to class.

" Maddie meet me outside before lunch." Paul shouts at me while I run to class.

"Okay." I smile back at him.

Running into class I see my seat open next to Sonja and unfortunately Nathaniel is there as well. Mr. Smith motions me to sit down, continuing with his lesson plan. Sonja waves at me handing me a piece of paper so we don't get caught talking. 

Over slept again didn't you? S

Ya, so Paul asked me to meet him before lunch. M

Really!! About what?! S

I don't know the bell rang. M

Do you think he is going to ask you out!?! S

I doubt it, :( he knows how Sebastian is. M

UGH STUPID BASTIAN!!! S

I know right!! M

I'm getting ready to give the paper back to Sonja until a hand snatches before I can. Looking back, I see Nathaniel reading our conversation. Growling at me as he crumples up the paper. He throws it to the ground and I hear him mumble, not if i can help it.  Ignoring his comment I look at Sonja and roll my eyes causing her to laugh. Mr. Smith clears his throat to get our attention. Sighing I turn towards the front and listen to his lecture, hoping Nathaniel leaves me alone in our next 2 classes.

Unfortunately I had no luck. Nathaniel kept bugging me trying  to get my attention. In third period I finally gave in and started talking to him.

"What do you want?' I asked sharply.

"To date you." he said confidently.

"Not gonna happen, so please just stop," I say back to him, "Now can you leave me alone so I can pay attention to the teacher?"

"You will be mine." He growls at me, "No matter what you think!"

Deciding to ignore him, I block out his voice and start to wonder about what Paul wants to talk about. Fourth period seems to last forever as I stare at the clock waiting for lunch. I can't even pay attention to the teacher, i am so curious as to what Paul wants.

Paul as been friends with my brother since we were all little. He is the only one of my brother's friends that I don't think of as a brother. I have been crushing on him since I was 12. I can never tell him, Sebastian would never let it happen. He refuses to let me grow up wanting to keep me a little girl forever. He has been over protective of me since our parents started to travel a lot. 

The lunch bell rings as i jump out of my seat and rush outside to meet Paul. Running out the door i look around to see Paul sitting at the base of a tree.

"Hi," i say shyly,"What did you wanna talk about?"

"Sit down, I brought lunch." Paul says patting the spot next to him.

Sitting down, i look into his eyes noticing the speckles of gold in his brilliantly emerald green eyes. They remind me of the fields we run in as leopards.

"I wanted to ask you a question, but i know if i do your brother is gonna get angry at me." Paul say quickly. He hands me a PB&J sandwich.

"Go ahead, i can usually calm him down." I say quietly taking a bite of my sandwich. "Its strawberry."

Paul says, "Ya its your favorite."

"How do you know that?" i ask taking another bite. Enjoying the sweet flavor of the strawberry jam.

"I know a lot about you. We've known each other for years. We grew up together. I like you. I was wondering if you wanted to go on a date with me?" Paul says nervously.

Shocked by his confession I have no clue what to say. As much as i would like to date him, i know my brother would hurt him, not caring that he is a childhood friend. Looking down i start to fiddle with my sandwich, not knowing what to say.

"Please say something! i know this is out of the blue." Paul says as he lifts my chin to look in my eyes.

"Let me think it over." I say as I start to get up. I run back in the building before he can say anything. Rushing to the bathroom I run in a stall feeling my heart beat a million miles a second. Trying to calm myself down, i take deep breaths to no avail. I pull my phone out and text the only person i know and trust to help me.

Sam 911 i'm in the girls bathroom second stall. - Maddie
