chapter four

Schlatt- Do you wanna be my minecraft gf?

I typed out a response rather quickly while Cooper looked over my shoulder.

Lee- bad pick up line Shatt.

Cooper let out a small laugh at the sight of my response, I also giggled finding it quite funny as well. I pressed send feeling all of my nerves drift away remembering how stupid Coopers friends are. I closed my phone and sat it next to me, then it buzzes right after it left my hand. "Damn someone is fast to respond."

The next few days were spent mostly working, the interview went really well and I started the day directly after. This job is perfect for me, I can work from home when I want and the resources there are unimaginable. Computer science and programming has been an interest of mine since highschool. Schlatt and I bonded over that, we've been getting to know each other over twitter dms, often through teasing and playful banter.

Once I get off work today I'm heading straight to Cooper's house to stream that get to know me thing with Schlatt. I'm actually nervous about it, kind of about actually talking to Schlatt and also that people might not show up. Well of course people will show up because Schlatt will be there, people love him. Unfortunately I feel like I'm not nearly as charming when speaking versus over twitter dm.

It's currently 9:15 am and I'm sitting at my desk at work, typing away, working on some safety software that's going to be sold to a company across the country. I've been here for about an hour working so I decided to go to the break room to get some coffee.

The room is small, there is counter tops lining the far side of the room with a fridge in the corner. There are three round tables with four to five chairs at each. I made my way to the counter and began pouring coffee into a disposable cup.
I gave one of my coworkers who just entered a closed mouth smile and nod, not hoping to start any interaction. I didn't look at him long enough to see if he returned the nod,  I picked up my coffee, pushing my hair behind my ear and began to make my way from the far side of the room to the door.

"Oh uhm hey, Levi." He said waving at me with an awkward smile just as I made it to the door. I turned at looked at him, he was a lanky dude, looked a bit older than me. I looked him in the eyes and smiled, waiting for him to continue. He approached me and stuck out his hand for a handshake, "I'm David, uh I work in market research" he stated with a shy smile as I took his hand into mine. Market research is all the way across the campus.

"It's good to meet you." I say, letting go of his hand and taking a sip of my coffee.

"So, you're kind of well known around the office, your programming skills are legit." He scratches the back of his head with a bit of a chuckle. I nod, this kid is nerdy, kinda cute. "Well, I was wondering if I could get your number." My eyes went a bit wide, I wasn't expecting that.

"Oh yeah sure." I smiled, guys being nervous when asking for my number is actually kind of flattering. He fumbled to take his phone out of his pocket and hand it to me. I put my number in the top bar and sent myself a text. I felt the buzz in my front pocket. "There you go." I handed back the phone and he gave me a goofy boy laugh, I couldn't help but smile.

The rest of the day went by smoothly, I finished my work and went home early around one pm since we were going to be starting the stream at three. As soon as I got home I got a text from Cooper asking me if I wanted to come over early to get comfortable and sent him a quick sure and began changing out of my "work attire."

I made myself a late lunch and sat on the couch and turned on the tv, just to pull out my phone. I noticed Schlatt had tweeted.

I giggled and sharing him his own tweet along with a message.

Lee- a little eager aren't we huh?

Schlatt- Nope, strictly for business.

Lee- mhm yeah okay talk to u in a bit.
